A Successful Writing Day
I guess I'm on a roll lately. I'm starting to feel a bit more like myself after having been sick so long. I have an interview tomorrow for a sales job. One of my real estate listings has two showings. I'm hopeful they go well. I really would love to sell it as that would set us up for the next few months.

In addition to that, I wrote a new nonfiction article that I'll be pitching this week to a parenting magazine. It'll be my first mental health article. I'm hoping to establish myself in the nonfiction market with some articles in preparation for the book launch this spring.

I tweaked Most Wanted and found a possible home for it. I'll be submitting it to Suspense Magazine on 2/1 once I've finished revising it. It's a pretty ambitious submission so I'll keep my fingers crossed for an acceptance. So far I'm on track for my monthly goals to submit to a new contest each month. At this rate I might need to do two a month. The goal is to build so much momentum that when the rejections come it doesn't really matter because I'll be too busy working toward the next one. Of course, I'd also like some acceptances as well.

I've started a list of places I want to submit to and their deadlines. I also worked on revising my grant letter and I think it's ready to go. I requested a review from a trusted couple friends and we'll see what they say. I'm hopeful to submit it tomorrow so I can move on to the next items.

For the first time in a long time, I feel alive, buzzing almost with excitement. It's tempered by seeing my husband struggle and be miserable. Amidst all of it, I'm struggling to keep my little writing flame alive. I fight to keep hope burning strong within me so that it can spread to my family. I hold tight to courage even as fear gnaws at me. And WDC is again there for me when I need it most, helping me to not lose myself in the grim sorrow, frustration, pain, and helplessness. It amazes me the power this site has to help.
