The Finger of God:
A Metaphor

Quick flashes of light,
illuminate the darkness,
strike the senses:
contrasting colors
undulate
on the edge of vision.

Darkness implodes
scatters shards o f silence,
echoes off
pounding eardrums.

Brilliant flashes of light
penetrate consciousness,
juxtaposition
reality and illusion.

Explosions rumble--
aftershocks
of spiritual evolution--
reverberate
across colliding ideologies.

I wrote this on 1 Ayyam-i-Ha 153 B.E. Par of the inspiration was a late February thunder and lightning storm. Lightning is often referred to as the finger of God.
