particle theory
sheets of rain
run up the road,
great lines of white marked
splashes chasing
each other in a steady rhythm
visible under the streetlamp
outside our window.
in the torrent, how can
we find a single drop?
position or movement—
uncertainty prevails.
the wind gathers
swathes of raindrops
acting in concert—water
woven into impossible
new metaphors.
from the window
we watch, rain falling in
long cymbal crashes,
in galloping seahorses, in
invading armies, all
racing up the road,
pushed on
by a relentless wind.
this came about because it was raining like this yesterday, and I started thinking about how I would try to describe how the wind moves the raindrops until they fall in sheets that actually go up the hill by our house. Which lead to the Heisenburg stuff in the middle. It's hypnotic to watch. And the best part is, I'm facing SW, so I get the storm view headon with the possibility of seeing any potential tornados heading our way in the distance.
