Shining Star


I gaze into the dark awash with light.
One bears his name; it makes the darkness bright.
My shoulders slump, a tear comes to my eye.
There was a bond, intrinsically unique,
more than a dog and owner would imply;
one seemingly that captured the mystique
of souls that touched that we forever seek.
He visits still; a ghost within my dreams.
The hollowness is filled each time I speak
his name watching as his memory gleams.

Yes, I had a star named for my dog - Scooter.
