Motivational Monday, Floodwaters, and To My Mother

Motivational Monday

Why is it called Motivational Monday?
         Do human beings need more motivation
         at the beginning of the workweek
         instead of at its end?

Not everyone
         begins their workweek
         on Monday.

Some people begin
         their workweek on Saturday:
         Do people who work
         Saturday through Thursday
         need more motivation on Saturday?

Floodwaters

Floodwaters rising
blocking streets and highways
across the nation.

Weather patterns change
as global warming continues
bringing one hundred year floods
every ten or twenty years.

Will humanity survive?
Only if governments act now.

To My Mother

Some days
the loneliness
overwhelms me
and tears flow more easily.

It is these days
when the tears cover my memories
like dewdrops on roses.
