Okay, it has been a while since I last blogged. I suppose September is a month I can do better in, right? So, here goes:

I was listening to an audio book a few days ago, by Ellen Burke. She is also YouTuber with multiple uploads and a rather large audience. She has a great voice for audio and I probably never would have found her if all the other selections I had to choose from didn't look so bad (because they weren't science fiction or fantasy selections). Well, it so happens that she is mostly blind. That sucks in a sighted word, but thankfully, the world is getting easier for such disabilities, I think. One thought that struck me after listening to her was when she mentioned having an animal, people would approach her more readily. I thought, how can I use that? How can my characters stand out more? When I think about it, a dog wouldn't stand out for a blind person unless very close, or particularly stinky which would offend most anyone. I know this lady at my workplace that does this super loud war cry every now and then. It draws attention and I wonder what fine lungs she has to have such a screech. My point is, such things can make a (personality) character more memorable. That is sometimes a good thing, right?
