Guess What I’m Sort of Doing Again

I’m writing this blog entry and posting it a little bit earlier than I usually do. That’s because I’m not feeling too good. In fact, I haven’t been feeling good for the last few days. I don’t think that I’m coming down with a Cold. But that is one possibility. Another reason is that I’m depressed. Mostly about work if I’m depressed. I’m also very angry about work and how they are treating me. I also haven’t been getting too much sleep in the last few days either. Maybe that’s what’s wrong with me.

That’s enough for me ranting and raving about how I’m feeling. Now for some really bad news. For the last few days, I have been working on a write and a re-write of my Act Four for the movie Treatment for my Water Wars scriptwriting project. But I don’t think that is my problem right now. It’s deeper than that.

I am starting to think that I need to re-start this project. Well, that isn’t completely true. I’m not going to do that from the very start aka the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet will stay the same. It’s the Outlines and Treatments that need to be changed. Why do I feel like that? Because I have had a feeling for quite a while that something is still wrong with this project. And I think that I have finally pinpointed the answer to that unwritten question. It’s the way that I’m telling all this. That’s the problem. I’m telling instead of showing.

Showing isn’t my only problem, though. It’s also some of my scenes. They say that if a scene doesn’t move the story forward or have something to say about it, that it shouldn’t be in the script. I think that I have to do that with my Outlines and Treatments. Especially when it comes to my twos, fours, sevens, and nines. Most of them have just been fillers or worse, continuations of the last scene or scenes for that character. I think I need to individualize those scenes and any others that need to be individualized too. That’s what I’m going to start doing today at work.
