Bluebird Song
And now, in the spirit of an early-bird prompt, I’d like to invite you to write a poem about your favorite bird. As this collection of snippets from longer poems suggests, birds have been inspiring poets for a very long time indeed!
Hark! Is that the blue bird's joyful song,
calling us to gather, to whether this storm?
Flying overhead, her voice calling strong;
parting the gray clouds, sun peaking through-
six days of heavy rains;
let go of your heavy burdens and blues,
this too shall pass -
smile and reach out with a loving hand.
Spring is here, hope and sass;
sing with the blue bird, rejoice,
shout the virus away with cheerful voice.
