April 20: allow yourself some "drama" - Drama Queen, Not
Drama Queen, Not

I was never a Drama Queen;
I couldn't pull the part off convincingly!

Maybe it was because
the small dramas in my life
were too traumatic
to pretend anything else was dramatic.

I was born bald--
completely and utterly bald--
without even baby fuzz
on my poor little female head.

Even when Mama
dressed me in tiny pink girly dresses
everyone who saw me
mistook me for a boy.

And then
there were the glass baby bottle incidents.

I was a bottle baby--
for some weird reason
the doctors thought bottle fed babies
were healthier--
who was weaned too early.

I would get mad,
throw a tantrum,
and heave my glass baby bottle
out of the car's open window,
breaking the bottle.

Mom got tired
of purchasing baby bottles
every week
and weaned me.

Sometimes I wander,
if the two incidents
were connected:
Could I have been so angry,
that people were mistaking me for a boy,
that I cried
and tossed the bottle out the window?
