Jack Kerouac's name rhymed but his poetry didn't
Poetry offers the writer myriad choices,
Rhyming, singing, or lilting voices.
It might dance on pages to a madrigal,
Or repeat phrases like a villanelle.
Poetry can with words, the human heart sear,
Just read one of those sonnets by Shakespeare.
Poetry can be gentle as a lamb, or rough as slam.
Or, maybe just free verse.
