this is assignments, and various forms of poetry I've learned at Poet's Place. |
ASSIGNMENT: Write a five-stanza poem about a favorite activity using a rhyme scheme of ABA, BCB, CDC, DED, EAE. Before posting the poem along the "Tools of the trade: The Rhyming Thread" thread on "~ The Poet's Place Cafe~" discussion forum, ask yourself if any of the rhyme words seem forced or predictable. Subtle rhyming that sneaks up on the reader's awareness is much more effective than that achieved through blatant distortion of the language. The Lord’s People By Lisa Noe It looks to be the apocalypse is now It's time for our Lord to return to us He will remove Christians as they bow Armageddon will be fought and thus All the world will be at war, Good men will war with evil, you can trust While the seat will be taken by the Lord All men will be fed by God And man will be protected from the storm Good stewards of the earth we shall become As we follow all the laws set forth by God Lord is the King and in His home we’re welcome A world in an uproar, they will fight the war to end all wars Then Peace shall prevail, and forever love shall reign The world shall gain when the Lord’s people are at the core. |
