Searching for Treasure

This is the second attempt to get this out. I just finished one, was ready to save and send and moved a finger and lost it! So here we go again!
We have just finished Chapter one of Proverbs on heeding wisdom. Chapter 2 is titled 'Avoid the Adultress'.
Prompt Wednesday, October 28, 2020
Proverbs 2:1-5
1. My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2. So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3. Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4. If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5. Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
I had only intended to use 2 verses but could not figure out how to divide them, they all go together.
What are these verses saying to you?

Proverbs:

2:1 Solomon had a son named Rehoboam. The words if thou wilt implies an uncertainty that Solomon has about his son’s resistance to his father’s advice.

2:2 In the second verse the writer goes forward with specifics about what the son should look for in his life. Remember this is the child that would inherit the kingdom his grandfather David built. Before Solomon died the kingdom split into 2 parts. Solomon may have been having a difficult time getting the heir to follow the insightful knowledge and wisdom God had been building into the culture of both David and Solomon’s kingdoms. Sometimes son may be specific and sometimes it may be a localized word used to teach knowledge to whomever will listen.

2:3 My American Standard uses the word discernment in place of knowledge. There is some difference when you look at these words from a Christian perspective. Discernment is an ability to look at a problem from all sides then obtain guidance from the Lord to understand the under lying structure of the problem. Rather than judging, it aids in a solution. In our time we have come a long way in law, psychology, and sociology to learn all we can about the why of some problem. Then tackling the how to resolve it. 1 Corinthians 12:8.

2:4 This is a comparison of how extensive the search for understanding should be. Put in the same effort you would to find money or treasure. Do not forget the person of woman implied in this part of the Scripture because the Holy One has a lot to say about Wisdom in the feminine.

2:5 It’s necessary no matter how long this goes on throughout time to seek to understand the fear of the lord which is the beginning of wisdom. Fear of God is submission to his values. Jesus brought in understanding about the depth of need God has for people who are sincere. John 4 :23. Bind yourself to the Lord, no matter what circumstances you may find in your life.

The first 9 chapters date from the 4th century B.C. A lot of things were happening to the culture in that time. It's so interesting to learn what the people went through because war and other changes put a pressure on culture yet the wisdom suggested in these verses still works as history progresses.
