Cleaning or Cleanliness

A cat doesn’t mind
the dust, the crumbs or
the occasional candy wrapper
that accumulate on the floor,
it is only herself
she’s fastidious about cleaning.
She simply doesn’t notice the mess
unless something needs to be
pushed off a table or
batted about the room
with a freshly groomed paw,
and so she curls up in the afternoon sun
and sleeps, with nothing on her conscience.
So unlike the busy human
worried by the clutter,
who sweeps the floor
but never licks her hands.
