Wildlife

There is not much wildlife
in a condo community,
rabbits, squirrels, and once a bear.
On my square of spikey Florida grass
I daydream of the elements below me.
An inch wide and a mile deep
there are roots, worms, fungal threads.
Bacteria live in ancient basalt.
Earth's stony core breathes in and out.
All the wildlife I need.
