I pull a card...if it doesn't speak to me...perhaps it was meant for you? How to Read the Tarot Begin by brewing a cup of tea, a nervine, lemon balm or chamomile, this is after all, your future. A reading at the dark of the moon is best, before the night creatures crawl and bad humours fill the air. Pick a circular deck, with a fairy-tale motif, and no reversals. Hold a question in your heart, shuffle the cards and place them on the table. Choose only two. Like the ancient Israelites, these are your seer stones, Urim and Thumimm, black and white, yes or no. Isn't that all you were asking? |
For Jill--passed February 6, 2024 If the Tibetans are right Holy Monday was your last day in the Bardo. Does resurrection have an expiration? My doors are open, no stone to roll back. My rooms are holy chambers where you may spiral and sow ancient seeds. There will be no more weeping here. You have shed your mortal skin. You are free. 12 lines Prompt: Picture of a closed up house 360 Degrees of Wisdom---Capricorn 12--Revealing the truth of something can lead to wonder and awe. |
Six Mile Cypress Slough Come autumn bald cypress trees drop their leaves in the swamp decompose, split their flesh in the murky, opaque water. Everything is cypress knees and long shadows. Then, in December, an errant shaft of sunlight dances across the darkness and all sparkles into color of pearl, rose, clay, vermillion. Everything is rainbow. A tale of winter becomes a tale of hope. 12 lines Prompt: Hope Pholarchos Tarot--12--Hanged One--Allow control to flood away |
Shadows They say air has no shadow. When a storm is coming the air is thick with subtle energy, wild and melancholy. Perhaps it is Oya whipping up a whirlwind. I call her with conjuring prayers my shadow self erupts smudged and stained whispering in the dark. There is power here dancing up a new world. Dark Goddess Tarot--Oya--With of Air---Santeria Goddess----Let your shadow self out. 12 lines Prompt: Shadow |
Love Remembered Once upon a time ago I loved you in my frenzied youth I chose another. Fifty years gone by and still, dreams of you. Two marriages in, and yet, I wonder. Would my life be better, saner, clearer had I held you fast and not let you go. Old memories are sweeter and dearer. I cannot change the past, I cannot know. I sense you out there in the multiverse a click away on Facebook and Twitter. Not for me this social media curse, all that's shiny is fool's gold and glitter. I will continue to remember you. But that is all this old dreamer will do. 14 lines form: sonnet Every Tarot Everywhere--VI--The Lovers----love is love is love |
