Prompt: What were some of the best Thanksgivings you ever had?

I loved having Thanksgivings with my grandparents when they were alive. I had Thanksgiving with my parents when Dad was in the Air Force and not in Vietnam. Dad made the gravy and dressing. I had Thanksgiving dinner with my Italian friend Debbie and her friends when we lived in Arkansas. They fed the dog some turkey who loved it. I once got to drink a glass of wine when I was fourteen at the Thanksgiving meal. The boyfriend I had in college, I went to his house for Thanksgiving and danced with his uncle. His family was nice to me.

My husband and I have a quiet Thanksgiving with him and I every year and my son and his wife would come over for dessert. I baked a Halloween cake. My son and his wife live in Minnesota now and we live in Indiana so they can't come over for dessert. I miss this. My cat loves eating turkey. We watch Macys Parade and the Dog Show every year.

I just give thanks for all I have and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

Prompt: Joy gave us a quote that says we all want fairy tales but we forget about the dragons. She wanted us to write about the metaphors of dragons in fairy tales.

Personally, I love dragons and don't see them as a threat. Trolls. I don't mean the cute ones from the 70's or the Troll movies. Those I like. People can be trolls. Mass murders, politics, all the bad things in life. We need a dragon to swoop down and get rid of the trolls.

I want a fairy tale. I want a perfect life. It doesn't work that way. We have to go a doctor sometimes and there are problems to deal with. Fairy tales aren't real, they say but we can enjoy a good marriage, love, friends, pets, cherish every good thing that comes along. When writing a fairy tale, we keep in mind that our story will have a happy ending but a Princess and others will face problems. Let the dragon be the hero. He is in my story. We live our own lives from day to day. I pray, go to church and I always need God's help. He will help me slay the evil things.

I am retired now and not working does make things easier. I do what I want now. I will always want a fairy tale life and some days, I have that. I hope everyone is able to get rid of their trolls. It wouldn't hurt to have a dragon in your corner to help you.
