I have been working on completing the first in a series of children's books. I am self-publishing with Lulu, so it is a lot of work getting it all together. I am doing all the illustrations as well. I'm not a gifted artist, but I try. *Confused*

If you'd like to follow my blog and keep up with my progress, see some of the illustrations, and the release dates, feel free the site is http://www.authormallman.blogspot.com

Classes started again today. This is my last eight weeks of school! I will graduate in August and finally have my bachelor's in writing. I am looking forward to having the extra time to work on writing projects and maybe get into publishing and editing as well. We'll see!

Happy Reading and I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend.

I've finished this semester and only have eight more weeks of classes before graduation. I can't wait. I several writing projects to work on and I'd love to have some time to spend on WDC again. I miss it and all the friends I made here. I also miss entering contests and reading other's stories and poems.

I am planning to sign a contract with Melange-Books for a second book of short stories, Stories to Wrap Your Mind Around, it is scheduled for release March 2012. And, I an determined to self-publish my children's books. I'm still working on illustrations.

Change of subject...

Tomorrow is my Mom and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary. I can't wait. We're having a big party to celebrate. I can't imagine 50 years of marriage. I've only been married 19 so far...will I make it. LOL! I plan to, anyway.

I gotta go. Party stuff to do!

Happy Mother's to all Mommy's out there!

I finished this semester, and now I have a break until Jan. 25th. I have several projects that I'd like to share.

My e-zine Fictitious Magazine is still going. I decided to keep it going. I loved to doing for my school project, and I have always wanted to get into publication. I'm taking submission now thru April 19th for the May issue. It is will have a comedy theme. If all goes as planned I will graduate in Aug., so starting Jan. 2012 I will start publishing issues four times a year, and thinking of making a print edition as well. I just had my magazine listed on Duotrope, so you can find it there as well.

I am working on self-publishing my picure books. I'm hoping to have the first one ready in Jan. I'm using Lulu to do this.

I haven't been on the site as much as I'd like, and while on break, I'm going to try to find time to read, review, and participate in contests. I am working on an entry for the Quotation Inspiration contest.

I also want to wish everyone Happy Holidays.

It's been a looong time since I've written in my blog. I have been busy and part of that is this semester's course work. I have for some time wanted to publish my own online magazine, and I now the chance to do so. I have a Journalism course that is publication production. My assignment is to create my own magazine or newspaper, with some certain requirements of course. The process has started my project Fictitious Magazine at http://www.fictitiousmag.webs.com

I plan to have a mix of genres, and if all goes well, I want to keep this going and see where I can take it. If any of you great writers would like to submit, please do so. I know there are many talented writers on the site, so if you have a short story you'd like to submit, I'd be happy to read it. The website is still in the construction stage, but I do have a submission page up and ready to view. I am looking for both fiction and poetry. I am taking submission through Nov. 19th. The first issue will up on Dec. 1 because of due dates for my class.

The bad news: I can't pay anyone at this time. This is starting out as a course assignment in the future, but I'd like to take it further. I will, however, link you story to a website or other works online if you wish as long as you send a bio with that information.

I look forward to reading some great submissions! *Bigsmile*

Yes, I did mean to write two instead of too. *Smile*

I had a great day yesterday. First, I got a phone call from a lady named Vivian from Oatmeal Studios. She wanted to buy a greeting card idea I had sent to them in 2006. Luckily, I haven't been writing greeting cards in a while and the idea was still mine. I used to send Oatmeal ideas monthly way back when I had time to sit and come up with ideas. There were so many they'd send back with little check marks on them. Vivian said that means they liked it, but didn't need it at the time. Just like the one she bought yesterday. I kinda miss writing greeting card ideas. It's not a steady income, but it is fun.

The two?

I got a wireless broadband USB modem from Verizon and it's wonderful. I chose it over satellite internet because satellites tend to lose signal in the rain- like my television-- and I didn't want to lose signal on rainy days. Also, I ordered the device on the internet, it came next day, I plugged in my computer and ready to go. No installation costs, no waiting. Instant gratification. You don't get that often. *Wink*

There is a downside, I have a usage limit of 5Gs a month, but from yestereday's usage, it looks like that won't be a problem. I'll see! I can return it within 30 days if I need to.

I have two weeks left of summer semester, but I think I can finish early. Then I'll have a longer break, which I really need. I have some writing and revising I'd like to do, and I may work on some greeting card ideas. That call yesterday got my churning again.

I must go. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I've been relaxing today. The girls have done the cleaning, and allowed me to take a break. Which is nice, I finished up my courses and now I have a break for a few weeks. I plan to work on a new book, do some gardening, and clearing out some weeds while on break. *Smile*

I got a bit of good news on Thursday. I sent a children's story to StoriesThatLift.com and they have accepted it for publication on their site. I got the contract yesterday, so it should be up soon. The story is Gordon Bunker~aka Gorilla Face. I wrote it for a Writer's Cramp prompt, and it won that round. Writer's Cramp is a great way to get ideas and creativity flowing. That's another thing I need to do while on break, be active in some activities and contests on the site. I really miss that.

It's been very cold here the last two days-- windy and cold. We had a cookout here yesterday for Mother's Day, and it was not much fun. I couldn't set up the volleyball net because of the wind and it was so cold that most everyone staying inside. But, I still enjoyed myself, gabbing with everyone and laughing.

I'm hoping for a warm up soon. I want to get my garden planted. I love gardening. Even when I was kid, I loved to go out and help my dad and mom with the garden. It's peaceful, and I can think about things while working. I think everyone should have garden. *Bigsmile*

Well, off I go to do some writing and enjoy the rest of my relaxing day.
