 Gratitude breaks the spell of Writers Block |

Staring at a blank page is like staring into a snowfield. The snow, untouched by civilization and unmarked by living creatures, blinds you for a few minutes, it glistens reflecting subtle shades of pure white and rainbows at odd angles. If you stare at the snow too long, you get lost in the interplay of light and shadow. As the day wears on, you become awestruck at the beauty of the snow's perfection. You marvel at the way an oak tree cast its ebony shadow across the pure white snow. You watch the tree's shadow change, grow and shrink, as Earth turns and the sun moves from morning to evening. If you stand out in the snow too long without moving, you risk snow bite or freezing. If you are fortunate, a red fox will walk across your line of sight. The fox will leave his footprints written in the snowfield. As you watch the fox move, the spell holding you in one spot staring at the snow is broken. You are free to go inside out of the cold and out of danger. I must say, writing 500 words a day isn't difficult, unless I'm attempting to write on a single subject. That is four days out of six, once I compose and post today's poem that will make it five days out of seven. That is good! I attempt to post a poem that I have either written sometime in the last few years or a new poem I have written. Lately I have composed poems inspired by the Baha'i Scriptures, so today's poem will be about prayer. Once I post the poem on that blog, I post a link on Facebook. I have posted the poems in this journal, but not the link to the blog. That changes today when I finish the poem and post it on the Poet 999 blog.Prayer transforms the individual's soul and mind. In the tranquility of your abode intone the prayers revealed by the Glory of God, while feeling the Holy Spirit flowing through the words. Gratitude List for 10 Kamál Today I am thankful...  ...for freshly boiled black coffee for breakfast. ...for the bottles of cold water I have in the fridge because it is going to be a hot day. ...that I changed my pharmacy from Smith's Food & Drug Store to the Humana mail order pharmacy because I can get most of my prescriptions though the mail without it costing me anything. ...that 2,814,851 GPs in my Gift Points account. ...for the raspberry GoGurt I had for desert tonight.Footnotes |

Only bush honeysuckle in bloom. It's not very fragrant. The intoxicating vines bloom later. But we have lilacs... until this heat roasts them.
