I have never done a blog before, in fact I didn't really know what one was and had to go to ask.com. When I did, I was very excited I thought it would the perfect way for me to share and learn new writing skills. It would also be the perfect way to share the first year of being in my new house with my partner of seven years. Actually it's a old-new house, but it's new for us. It will also be a way for me to commit to my writing which I often don't take the time for, in lieu of other more important things. You know vacuuming, sweeping, dribble, dribble. My writing is important and I have decided to let it take a back seat. So here I come, believe me, once I get writing I never am short of words.
Hello JR ~ Congrats on being coming a new home owner!
You can also keep herbs with root entacted, in a glass jar with water - [just enough water to rest the roots in] keeps the herbs fresh longer.
Or freeze in ice cube tray, basil, tarragon, rosemary, when cubes are hard toss in a zip lock bag. Use in cooking, which they give more flavour than the dried herbs.
Being an empty nester, I am discovering new things to keep produce fresh longer, because cooking for one, alot can be wasted.
I did a trial with green onions purchased at the grocery store. Stuck them in a long narrow cylander tupperware container with lid, filled with water just enough to cover the green onion root bulbs. I still can't believe it, Those green onions stayed fresh for 2 weeks in the fridge!
