I travel the country on business, sometimes the world. Come see where I've been.

Talk about perks, my job has one of the best ones I can think of! I travel in the course of business, delivering classes for my employer. I am a Senior Training Specialist for Motorola Solutions, and teach classes on a wide variety of subjects centered around 2 way radio communications. I'm qualified to deliver approximately 30 different classes, but about half of those are 'Legacy' classes, and are not in demand anymore. My students are technicians, those who maintain, program, calibrate, and repair large 2-way radio systems. Some of these systems are statewide, and use TCP-IP networking to allow sites to communicate with others. Some are small, traditional type radio sites. The size doesn't matter, in each case the systems must be kept operational at all times, since many of them are Public Safety Systems. So I get to travel, sometimes frequently, 3-4 weeks in a row.... where am I this week?

This probably won't have daily entries, but I will make entries when I get to go somewhere, and keep an updated list of coming trips. My schedule changes faster than the weather, so don't be too surprised to see me list an upcoming class, only to remark later on that it is cancelled, or delayed. Delays are fine of course, but a later date might mean that someone else gets to go instead of me,,, Well, here we go with this, let's see where it takes us.

Those tickets need to be purchased very soon. Going to Kalispel is okay if you are leaving from Chicago. Leaving from BMI is expensive... add about $200+.

MSO is 3+ hours away from Kalispel, and Whitefish and Hungry Horse are further. FCA is 7 miles from Whitefish. There's a train to Whitefish.

I'm in downtown Missoula but that's a local bus (free, but not frequent) or a shuttle or Uber. There's little to nothing available on Sept 21st as the Montana Griz host Western Carolina. The football team is away on the 28th.

My building is listed at Airbnb and at $58/night (++=$74) is as cheap as you can find. I don't think it's available on the 21st but maybe on the 22nd and the 26th but not the 27th.

If the company is picking up the tab then an expensive place (or one provided by your client) near your worksite, flying into FCA Whitefish/Kalispel, may be the only reasonable option.

Amtrak is 37-40 hours (Bloomington to Whitefish) and $220-$720. A train to SMT by Midway is fast <2hrs and cheap. GLN by ORD is still cheap but slower. Train/Plane may be best.

When I went to Europe in 2013 I wanted to visit Luxembourg (why? because so few Americans do) and see Holland in the Spring. The flight came to Paris. Paris wasn't on my bucket list but I figured 4 days wouldn't kill me and I could relax. I was charmed.

One makes do...

Odd markets... in some older or crowded places they're wherever they fit it or wherever they have been for centuries. Even here... one barbershop that caters to old geezers is down a flight of stairs. People who need to know... know. On the 2013 trip I visited the fish store in Delft has been across from the Old Church since the 1300s. Got broodje paling.

Enjoy Frankfurt. Next year you can plan some pleasure trips.

Yes, it may be time to retire... however... what will you do when you're retired? Your schedule keeps you busy and focused. Your travels keep you moving. Writing? Eating? There must be something. It would be a shame to vegetate at home and become a couch potato.

I need reinforcement for Thai. It's not sticking. It took years for me to dream in Spanish. childhood French still interferes after decades.

Wathing Thai shows may seem silly, but I do learn bits and pieces every time I watch. Progress has been very very slow.

"Embedding" seems to be the key.

What a grueling schedule.

Now if you can get to Kalispell in one piece, well Kåre Enga in Montana

and I will be happy. I just pray it won't be during a fire outbreak in the mountains over that way.

Kalispell, Flathead Lake, Glacier, that whole area is just one big touristy conglomeration that charge and get big bucks. I know I could not even afford to live anywhere near there. Kåre Enga in Montana

is closest to you in Missoula. I am above Billings in Roundup.

Montana is huge. One hour drives to get anywhere are not uncommon.

Remember to mention tripping to your doctor. Imbalance, not lifting your feet, distraction... can be signs of more than just aging. Anyone 60+ cannot afford to fall.

Your dates need to be specific. Which Friday? Which Sunday? Sunday July 21 or 28 in L.A. Friday the 26th I presume? Visiting LA may be as cheap as Kalispell for me. Friends spent over $300 for one night (maybe $500/2 nights?) in Kalispell. I can't afford that.

Strongly suggest you email folks in LA.

I don't know anyone else in WMT unless Words Whirling 'Round is passing through... as he's wont to do occasionally. QueenNormaJean gettinPomsready has not mentioned coming this way any time soon. Montana is huge. I haven't heard a word from partyof5 in years.
