Earth - now known as the Old World - is tarnished and blackened by the onslaught of a nuclear war, centuries ago. All of greater civilization resides in Icaria: a super-massive system of glass spheres hanging five miles over the planet.
But life is not gone from the Old World, in fact, it is thriving. Lawless follows the tale of one Jake Walters, a teenage runner in this dangerous, black world, as he not only survives but rises to challenge the entire system - Icaria and the Old World.
