I am proposing an experiment for myself and sharing it with everyone. I promise.
All right. I've been thinking about it and well? I might just be mature and/or secure in my writing ability to include you guys in on an experiment. You see, I've been learning about hypnosis for the past few years now pretty hard-core. I also happen to have an exceptional fear of success. Case in point: writing. I know I should write. That doesn't mean I do. I know that things I've written in the past have amused almost everyone who reads them. They then turn to me and ask the dreaded question every writer has faced since the beginning of time, if they didn't put their very first story on the chopping block right away.

Why don't you publish this stuff?

For me? Sad as it is, recognition of any type kinda... terrifies me. Which is why I pay for the membership to Writing.com and yet do nothing with it. It is also what keeps me going to karaoke bars, so I guess I'm helping bring joy to the world one way or another. That said, perhaps it's time I actually start using the site the way I intended to way-back-when.

I'm still pretty scared of actually posting anything, though. It means I spend a lot of time on other sites doing "research." It also means I post a whole bunch of things privately and pat myself on the back -- if the security ever fails, I will then be a published author, right?

You and I both know that probably means that the sicko who hacks in is just too perverse to imagine clearly, therefore improbable.

Enter: hypnosis (bet you wondered when I'd come back to that, didn't you?). What if I were to hypnotize myself to draft, then immediately post it? It would take a while to work the kinks out of the system, of course. I could just type the same sentence over and over again for 30 minutes. I could develop a case of writer's block so severe, I need therapy. I could, however, come up with gold.

If I promise to post immediately what I type, will you promise to check in once in a while?
