Way back when, even at the end of the 19th century, US high-schools did have yearbooks but the themes became attached to them much later. I really didn't care for yearbooks at all, because their content was dominated by the school's administration, at least in my school.
I love reading always have..sometimes it's foes escape others just cause I like it. I become a part of the story and if anyone tries to talk to me..I never heard them!
I feel very similarly about reading being an escape from reality. Whether it was escaping the boredom of family camping/fishing trips as a kid, or escaping the stresses of professional/parenting life as an adult, I've always found comfort in disappearing into someone else's story for a while.
