July 22, 2015 I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done. I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them. I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC. |
Mouth Watering Mondays. Time to go out to eat...chain restaurant, local establishment, or fast food? State your case.  I would rather eat out in a restaurant. If I am eating out I prefer to sit down inside and enjoy the fact that someone else is furnishing the food, cooking the food, and serving the food. I always appreciate the waiters and waitresses. It is not an easy job to make sure someone else is satisfied with their dining experience. If we shop in Erie we like to eat at one of the buffets. I like the many choices at a buffet. It makes eating an adventure. How local is local? There is a Perkins in one town about 16 miles from us. It is a chain restaurant. They change the menu often and serve fresh foods. I think they go out of their way to use recipes that are good for you as well as taste good. They have a regular pancake menu for those who like the same type of meal without variety. There are local establishments but I don't eat at them. Many times in this area you just don't get as fresh food as I think is good for us from a family run eatery. I don't eat out often enough to find a local good one and stick with it. We will eat fast food if we are shopping and hungry. Usually go to McDonald's, Arby's, or Burger King. Of these three Arby's has a fresh menu. Fast food is a money issue. It is sometimes more economical. We go out to a movie and dinner with my son's family once in awhile. They are younger and more adventurous diners. It is always fun because they take us somewhere we have never been each time. At home I'm the cook. I don't like to cook. I'[m not fond of eating either. But, I can cook well and eat what I cook. |
