A Journal to impart knowledge and facts

July 22, 2015

I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

The Sunday News!

Share an article and your thoughts about the recent tragedy in Paris.

Sunday, November 15, 2015

The following quotes were taken from an article by Anthony Faiola, Souad Meknennet and Brian Murphy, from The Washington Post on Kindle. It highlighted views from other news venues:

By Greg Jaffe

“The president is scheduled to leave for the group of 20 summit in Turkey where the battle against the Islamic State, The refugee crisis, and the ongoing wars in Iraq and Syria are on the top of the agenda.”

By Mark Berman

“Authorities in major cities across the United States said they were increasing police patrols in response to the attacks Friday in Paris”

“The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks”
“Arrests were made in Brussels and French police have taken several people into custody”
“France is under its most serious lock down in decades.”

President Francois Hollande said, “The attacks were an act of war; organized from abroad by the Islamic State with Internal help.”

By Jeb Bush

“on CNN: The USA should focus its efforts to assist Middle Eastern refugees on Christians fleeing persecution.”

By German President Joachim Gauck: “Never will we bow down before terror”

Pope Francis said, “Left behind in Paris were the latest scars , from the piece meal third world war.”

I shared a book review in October on The Monthly Reading Challenge. Reading, It Is About Islam by Glenn Beck will give you an idea of how serious this threat from the Islamic State has become. It does not matter to a jihadi, who you are. They just kill people. Their mindset is different. Everyone is at risk. They want a full fledged war.

If you could curate a non-traditional section in a library or bookstore, what would you call it and what titles (real or otherwise) would you shelve?

Manx Cat from Japan

I would start a web café. Coffee, Tea and honest health food snacks. A large reading area with comfortable chairs. About 15 computers in private spaces. The spaces would be enclosed by the backs of stacks. Each stack would be for reading or buying,
One stack would be reserved for specific books about history related to Christianity. Another stack would be related to the history of any religions or churches or cults that practice some type of worship. A third would be books written about USA Government by journalists. Other stacks would also contain specific groups of books.

Some of the books contained in the stacks will be all versions of the Holy Scriptures including The Women’s Bible by Elizabeth Cady Stanton, The Bahr: by Aryeh Kaplan, Christian Mysticism by William Ralph Inge, Midrash by Boruch Cliinton, Dreams and Visions by Kenneth Jackson, “The Assassins “ by Oliver North and Joe Musser: ,Religion in America” by George c. Bedell, Leo Sandon, Jr. , Charles T. Wellborn , The Fitness Instinct by Peg Jordan, America’s Prophet, by Bruce Feiler, Ghost Wars, the Koran, The Bible; The Koran; and Science by Mr. Faisal Fahim, Dr. Maurice Bucaille and Dr Zakir Naik, It Is About Islam by Glenn Beck

This may not meet your criteria of non-traditional. If your looking for books to read I recommend each one on this list. If your looking for the books I have read in 70 years the list is to long to put on this blog. If you are looking for horror try the news.
