A Journal to impart knowledge and facts
July 22, 2015

I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

THE SUNDAY NEWS!

This Sunday, your challenge is to pick a news story and start a conversation about it. What are your thoughts on the subject? Do you feel that others will agree? If so, why? If not, why not?

What impact will passing a recreational marijuana law have on California? There are other states with this on their ballot Tuesday. Will the impact be state to state or will it vary according to the population in a state that uses Marijuana? Is there any historical basis for the statistics that will be covered? I have a lot of unanswered questions to delve into.

Basically the news is about the amount of money and jobs this is going to create if it is passed. Is the money worth the social aspects it will create in the population?

Will they have to pass driving when drunk laws on marijuana users or just use the ones in place for drugs and alcohol?

I'm reminded of the laudanum problems in Europe when the medical people first realized their patients were becoming addicted to the prescribed medication. Until 1868 you could buy it freely in drug stores. There is a recipe for it in a Civil War Forum online. I did not read the recipe but it would involve cocaine which is illegal. Which brings up another question?

Do you believe marijuana is addictive? What aid does it give to people who are taking it for an illness?

Now we have a prompt within a prompt and the basic questions for a good news article.

Owl with an attitude Too many questions not enough answers.*Laugh* I'm off to do some research.
