A Journal to impart knowledge and facts |
July 22, 2015 I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done. I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them. I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC. |
On this day in 1997, US President Bill Clinton barred federal spending on human cloning. Do you have any thoughts on cloning, whether it's animals or people? Would you want to be cloned? Thoughts of cloning make me shiver. Still, if you read the facts about cloning some of it makes sense. What if you could clone someones liver and than use it in a transplant. Or some child was born with one arm so you could reproduce the other arm and plant it in. Or, what if stem cell research gives out a lot of new ways to heal people of cancer or leukemia or any other disease that is presently under attack by humans. I went to the website genome.gov and learned that cloned animals, though genetically DNA the same they are different in other ways such as color. When we bought into the information age. We are asking for more information to deal with life. Some of it isn't fun to contemplate. Unless you are a scientific expert in your field and actually know what you are doing. Then, of course, there will be the mad scientists that detectives will have to hunt down to stop them from cloning everything in sight. Hmmm! a new science fiction thriller or real facts?? I'm just not competent enough to say don't clone. So, I will say clone with integrity, mercy, and knowledge. ![]() |
