I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.
I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.
I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.
One of the problems with media these days is that the audience expects instant news and analysis. Extra points ($$$) if the headline is outrageous. The old adage "think before you speak" isn't honored, neither is fact-checking nor truth.
I knew about Ceasar, but was surprised to find out how far back that dates goes when it comes to disasters. It's no wonder Shakespeare went for that date
We've all done it. At least I have. Write about a time you were inappropriately dressed for the occasion.
We have a group of people around here who take scripture in a literal sense. They think all women should wear dresses and long hair 24/7.
When the heat hit I cut my tresses totally short. Much cooler. I smiled a smile while doing it.
This is a rural area and most women who work on a property of any size wear jeans or slacks.
The last place I went where a dress would have been appropriate was one of my grandson's graduations. It was outside on a football field. Someone recommended I wear slacks so I changed to slacks. After I got there I figured I could have stayed in the dress but, I was not out of place because probably 75 percent or more of women of all ages were wearing slacks. The other per cent opted form long flowing dresses of one type or another.
I have a really long flowing green dress I bought one year at Walmart. I wore it one Sunday around the house all day, a couple weeks ago. It was only the second time I ever wore it anywhere.
20 years ago, maybe more, I bought a pattern for long flowing pants. Made of different types of soft material. They are all wearing out now. I was thinking of looking for the pattern and buying some material for more of them. In the summer they are cooler than jeans. No real male would be caught wearing them for any reason. They would be inappropriate for field work but, I can drive a tractor while wearing them, or mow the lawn, or walk the dogs.
I have not been to a wedding or anywhere formal wear is involved for years. If I lived in the city or a small town I would still wear slacks around the house. I also own and wear jeans.
Male or Female I can tell the difference no matter what the dress. Where is your common sense? Wear what makes you comfortable and keeps you satisfied you are not out of place for shopping or throwing hay, or attending the church picnic.
I have to go now. The dark clouds are gathering for another storm. If it rains too hard we will lose our WIFI signal until it stops.
