A Journal to impart knowledge and facts

July 22, 2015

I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

I met a bear (Campfire songs)

The other day,
I met a bear,
Out in the woods,
away out there. [Point]

everyone: The other day, I met a bear. Out in the woods, away out there.

He looked at me,
I looked at him,
He sized up me,
I sized up him.

everyone: He looked at me, I looked at him. He sized up me, I sized up him.

He says to me,
'Why don't you run?'
'Cause I can see,
you got no gun.'

everyone: He says to me, 'Why don't you run?' 'Cause I can see you got no gun.'

I says to him,
'That's a good idea.'
'Now legs get going,
get me out of here!'

I began to run,
away from there,
But right behind
me was that bear.

And on the path
ahead of me,
I saw a tree,
Oh glory be.

The lowest branch
was ten feet up,
I'd have to jump
and trust my luck.

And so I jumped
into the air,
But I missed that branch
away up there.

Now don't you fret,
and don't you frown,
I caught that branch
on the way back down.

That's all there is,
there ain't no more,
Unless I meet
that bear once more.

Geysers on Moons and other Erupting Places

Geyser reactions are generated because water flows close to magma generated under ground from volcanic activity. Surface water flows down cracks or vents as low as 6600 feet below the top. It comes into contact with hot rocks creating steam. Then the water and steam which are now under pressure blow up through the vents spewing into the air many feet. It is considered a hydro geological condition.

Earthquakes, human intervention and changing functions such as those caused by mineral deposits within the structure of the system can cause a geyser to cease.

There are geysers in Yellowstone National park, Valley of Geysers(Russia), El Tatio, Chili, New Zealand, Iceland, and other places on the earth. And, different types of geysers have been discovered in outer space on moons in the solar system.

Iceland uses theirs to heat greenhouses and grow food in places that are normally to cold for food production .

The Geysers is the world’s largest geothermal field. It has 22 geothermal power plants. It is located north of San Francisco. Earthquakes from the faults near the area cause smaller more frequent quakes, to be felt in the geothermal field, because of the geyser activity connected with the power plants.

Yellowstone National Park has a volcano Observatory for the study of volcanic activity. There are up to 400 plus geysers active in the park in any year. The website lists different kinds of geysers. Cone geysers, exploding geysers, fountain geysers, spouting geysers, and steamboat geysers are explained on the website.

Steamboat geysers pulse like a resting steam engine with eruptions up to 400 feet. You can also visit a webcam of Old Faithful. There is evidence in all the Volcanic Observatories around the earth of changes in the volcanic fields.

Geysers are tourist attractions. It is important to know about them because of their connections to the volcanic activity on the earth. This is the planet we presently live on.

I knew I should not take time to go to a funeral yesterday. Just everything went crazy in the night.

(maybe the stories end unless there is something else out there tonight)

Just as I was stepping out of the cave guess who should appear? One of the other campers. Even though dawn was slightly appearing she brought a lantern and a map. She said, " Don't worry about big foot I threw down the rest of last nights hamburger left overs at the cave opening he will be busy for awhile. The mute kid turned out to be lost so I gave him to a ranger but he ate all of your jar of peanut butter before he left. After I built the campfire up I managed to drive off the vampire with fire. I would have liked to drive a stake into his heart but the dolls were happy to help hold him off until I got the fire going again. Oh. I promised to sew Lilly a whole new wardrobe of clothes when I get home so she is happy but your on your own with the other one. Now let's get back to the camp it has been a long night and I want to see Old Faithful today." "Next time wake up your buddy before making friends with a big foot!!"

As you can see I am blogging with the 30 day Blogging Challenge. We are doing a virtual camping trip to Yellowstone. So far, it has been interesting to research the park.

I attended a funeral this week. The church service was was all liturgy. The message from the pastor was a reminder that ounce you commit to the Lord he never lets you go. Although it was very formal it was also peaceful. Really, the kind of funeral from 50 years ago.

We were away from home for 5 hours or so two days in a row. Cats, dogs, horses and parrots all glad we are back. Now the routine is settling back into place.
