A Journal to impart knowledge and facts
July 22, 2015

I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! Hi from Apondia.

I am interested in the WDC addition in 2025. I will have to write a lot more. It would be a good addition to my present busy life. Someone has hacked my computer again. So, if I write more, I will have to get it back again. We will see.

I do not believe in one bowl to a family, one set of silverware to a family, or one personal computer to a family. Today I am on Keith's computer because mine has been hacked again. That is why they are called personal computers.

Is anyone out there being harassed by AI? AI does not make all its own decisions it is driven by humans. Behind everything AI does presently is a human.

This has nothing to do with Democrats or Republicans. It is pure evil. Also, it happened in an earlier time in this country. Some of us remember when.

Write about an unusual animal you've seen recently

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure!

An unusual animal is the vulture that sat in a tree with its wings spread a couple weeks ago.

Also saw a buck come out of the trees last week. I called to it, and it stood and listened to me talk, then moved off to the woods.

The most unusual is a pet black cat I have living in my home. It has been running around with its tongue sticking out between its teeth. It also scratches on cardboard boxes and in corners of the room. It has sudden fits of wild running around rooms and jumping down on people from high heights. I have been researching this online and found that cats who are doing these odd things are going insane. I did not even know cats could go insane. With some particularly special attention the cat is returning to its more normal behavior. Although, it continues to stay close to me as if it is frightened of something. I don't know this cats age as my granddaughter got it from a cat rescue when it was already full grown. She had it for several years when it began to want outside on a regular basis and jumped from a two-story window in their house. It seems healthy and eats well. It has been with me for about 7 years. Not sure when it came here it was before 2021.

The tree that fell in a wind storm is cleaned away out of the driveway. It was killed by lightning a few years ago. The outside birds used it as a perch so they are going through a period of
reorientation.

Animals inside and out are part of my daily life.

Prompt: Trust
What kinds of actions or signs make you believe someone is trustworthy? And if trust is broken, how can it be rebuilt?

One lie after another is a good sign not to trust someone. Actually, finding out someone is also lying to their friends about someone else is a good sign not to trust someone. Never trust a narcissist. They pretend to be normal to get you to trust them and then hit you in some bad way again.

True Sincerity would be the only way to rebuild trust. That probably means laying out the truth no matter what position it puts you in. Besides, every situation regarding trust may be different. You need all sides of any story to know what is going on within a situation. Sometimes not trusting someone is the best way to live.

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! Use these words in your entry:gratitude, ungrateful, turkey, food fight, and sweet potatoes.

The turkey was not ungratefull when I turned it loose. I'm always surprised how animals can show their gratitude for the smallest kindness. Anyway, sweet potatoes don't make a good food for a food fight{/b
This is more than one sentence.

The best I can do for today. Crazy things going on here today. We cleaned up the tree, it took two days. We can get down the driveway again. Another windstorm coming according to weather for tomorrow. Bye for now.

Gratitude
Is gratitude is important for our well-being and do you think gratitude could relate to love? If so, in what ways?

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure!

Well sometimes I'm grateful for a sale at a special time it does not have anything to do with love just relief I can spend less for something I need.

It might relate to love if it is a person or something some person has done.

I think gratitude is related to words like testimonial and tribute. It is important to be openly grateful at times.

What is your favorite Winter holiday?jh

I like Christmas the best. A postal worker told me this one season, "Jesus is the reason for the season." No matter whether people fight over exactly when the birth of Jesus occurred; it is still the celebration that matters. It is the beginning of a story that has affected the entire earth. Every year it renews itself.

It is a time during the year when there is more peace celebrated, when everyone needs peace. There is always someone around that does not want to celebrate Christmas. I always say that is your choice.

For me even if it just meant a vacation for children at this time of year and gift giving and decorations and seasonal music it is still a great time of year to enjoy a celebration.

I always wonder at Christmas what Jesus's childhood was like. There is only a small amount of information about his youthful years. His ministry on the earth was short. Only a few years packed with information.

Christmas showing up on the heels of Thanksgiving is good as well. It seems to lengthen the party.

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! 5

The downed tree is still laying in the driveway. Now it is in pieces. My youngest son came over and helped cut it up.

Very cold and wet yesterday. Today sunshine with some cloud cover. Maybe it will warm up some. Maybe we will move part of this tree to a place it will not interfere with plowing. My weather app says snow on Thanksgiving. The deer we often see in the hayfield are hiding. Bowhunting season started.

The lawns are still green and grow when the sun shines. I will be interested to see what amount of snow falls our way. Lots of people think it will be a snowy year.

Bye for Now. *Wave* signature dancing owl

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! Have fun with these famous movie phrases: Sugar and Spice, Houston we have a problem, I'm the king of the world, and show me the money.

Sorry to say I don't know the movies these came from. I used to have Netflix. Had to give it up a few years ago. Had to choose between movies or a phone. I chose a phone. Because of this I am way behind in movie watching. I do go onto prime and watch free prime movies on my kindle.

Also, looking forward to getting Netflix again. I used to find every movie I ever wanted to watch on Netflix. Anyway, I'm not sure I would be able to identify these sayings from a movie. I've heard, "Houston we have a problem" somewhere. Sometimes movies don't make much of an impression on my brain.

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! :On November 16th, food lovers get a dose of their favorite convenience food. Whether they use the drive-thru, dine-in, or get it to go, National Fast Food Day calls for us to grilled, fried, and broiled menu staples. What's your favorite fast-food?

Fast Food Day: Red Dragon

I guess Sub-Way is my favorite fast food. Today my favorite fast food at home is beef stew. I make a crock-pot full then freeze some for a quick meal day. I do lots of at home fast food. Some other at home favorites are chili, soup and grilled cheese, Gorton's fish fillets, or sloppy Joes. We don't have cash to eat out often. Making extra to pull from the freezer helps keep me from going crazy cooking for two.

We might be cleaning up the dead tree that fell on our driveway. The weather doesn't seem to be helping us. Suppose to be clear today. Still misty and wet outside. Not a fun day to move branches out of the driveway.

See Ya!

Christmas trees are like a blank page, tell us how you're going to decorate yours. Do you do a theme? Do you put up just family mementoes, maybe a mixture of store bought and homemade? Lights or no lights.

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure!

We have used a 7-foot tree for years. We used to go to the woods and get a real tree when the children were all still home. It got to be a problem as the years of heavy snow made that a problem. Everyone was in favor of an artificial tree which we purchased one year at the end of Christmas when trees were on sale.

I used to buy one new decoration a year for the tree. There were so many decorations I could not use them all, so I stopped buying more. Now I decorate with the ones I like best. There are lots of favorites. I used to have a string of objects that twirled when you plugged them in that was fun. The string stopped working but, I put them on the tree anyway. It has little angels playing instruments, Mice in a house and other small creature.

Some of my decorations are home made. Lots of angels and a star at the top.

The tree got old and some of the limbs broke a couple years ago. I shortened it and used it anyway.

Then someone put a different tree in the closet last year, so I used the different one. Over the years someone has come into our house and traded trees at least one other time. I use whatever is there. Also, put up a manger scene every year. Christmas brings a special change to the house. Most years I put the tree up the first day of Buck hunting season and take it down on New Years Day. Last year I put it up earlier and took it down later.

Have not decided about this year yet. Have to open the closet and see what is in there.
