The chicken I mentioned are usually deep-fried. So, imagine deep-fried tiny hands on a platter. They are crispy. I know we put chicken feet in broth to flavour the soup, but boiled chicken feet sounds disgusting.
I'll usually try most things, Elfycia Lee ☮. I have a Mexican friend who loves bull balls. I can now say with full knowledge that I do not.
I never thought of chicken feet as little zombie hands, but now that you mention it... lol Mine were boneless. I assume they are like wings in that I wouldn't like them with the bone because it's too much work for too little meat. And you won't catch me craving chicken feet, even boneless ones. Lol They were good enough to eat but not good enough to crave. Lol
As with anything, how it's cooked makes a huge difference in the taste! I'm not a fan of boiled meat so maybe if my friend cooked her beloved bull balls in a different way... lol
Being from an Asian country, thankfully, I do not recall Malaysia selling silkworms, and insects for a snack. At least where I live in the city. If anyone wanted them, they will have to go to Thailand. I didn't take you for someone who is an adventurous eater. This entry surprised me. My hubby loves chicken feet and until today, I cannot bring myself to eat them. Don't you think they look like little zombie hands? How can anyone eat that? He did say they are delicious. I wonder if there come to some point in my life that I have to learn how to cook chicken feet.
About blood sausage - yeah, I'm totally with you. You know I watch Korean drama and watching them enjoy blood sausage --- I have no words. Oh well.

I have seen chicken feet at the store in the US, though I didn't know people just used them for stock and threw them away. That seems like a waste of perfectly good chicken feet. Seriously though, why not use the bones like for beef stock? Or are people using cow hooves for that and I didn't realize it. There might be something to that whole vegetarian thing.
Well, thank you for sharing. Interesting indeed, but when I sat down to spend a little time here I was hungry and thinking about what to eat for breakfast. Now I'm not sure I'll even eat lunch.
But, that's a few hours away, so I reckon my appetite will be back by then. Did you know, you can purchase chicken feet at Walmart? At least in this area, they sell them. A friend of my wife said they are used in making chicken stock, boiling them for a few hours, straining them, and using the liquid but disposing of the feet in the trash.
I guess it does avoid waste. We have a thing in Scotland called haggis, which essentially involves grinding up all the parts of the sheep you couldn't otherwise use. I thoroughly approve of the efficiency in using as much as possible - just as long as it doesn't end up on my plate. .
Though if you think about it, Asia has long been known for its silk and only in recent times has much of Asia developed wealth. Thus, what should a starving country have done with all those silk worm pupa they were unraveling the silk from?
When I was here before, I literally saw women doing this. VERY interesting! And when one got tangled into the silk, the women just nibbled it off. After all, it was already boiled at that point, so perfectly cooked.
If your suspicions are correct, I've ben suckered into eating a LOT of weird and sometimes disgusting things! I definitely don't recommend spinal cord.
