I agree that if there is love, respect should be in it also. How can it be separate?
I hope your niece recovers very soon. She is lucky because she has such a great family, a caring aunt, and wonderful siblings. Have a happy Thanksgiving!

So beautiful and heartening to read of your love of your family members!
I like warm, too; not hot, not cold. Unfortunately, where I am we are rarely warm or lukewarm. Mostly hot with a few days of somewhat cold in the dead of winter.

That is terrible. Your poor family! The city governments need to take better action with their drainage systems. That is something that concerns me a lot. In 2018, in Paris when the Seine rose up, due to rain, all the basements around it were flooded, which made the basement rats go up the buildings. Most people were made to evacuate, but when the floods receded, they came back to unbelievable looting and broken windows and doors. The outcomes of floods are horrible.

First, this is not up to me, but since your entry seems to ask for opinions, I'd say why worry about something you have no say over? I know this is difficult under the circumstances, but the decision is for your sister and her husband to make. Whatever they decide, they'll have to handle the results of their decision. You can only help when the result is in the open.

A second possibility is that the ultrasound may not be showing exactly what is there. I know a couple who thought they were getting one kid and ended up with twins. Then, what the ultrasounds, x-rays, etc. show depends on the doctor who interprets what he sees. I hope it is nothing but the doctor's wrong interpretation, but he/she might be right, too.

Also, sometimes, nature takes care of itself. So, please don't worry before anything happens. You'll only cloud your own life.

Yes, it is always helpful to stretch out. You are right about being too close to something. Some things in my life I am still not able to write about like the Vietnam War or 9/11, let alone read a book referring to them. In fact, if I see a book hinting at such a situation in it, I'll skip reading it.

I am with you on this. Aristotle probably wanted his ideas or debates understood easily for the people of his day. Also, sometimes, wise thoughts cannot be expressed in simple words, even if we can show those ideas in character action. Still, I believe in using an easily understandable language, but for that end, I am not going to give up a good piece of prose expressed through better vocabulary.

good and complicated news

Life has gotten a bit complicated. I'm at my sister's house, helping with the kids. The twins were born last Thursday. One little girl--I just met her today. Baby B (who remains unnamed) is more complicated than they thought in utero. Two operations so far and another one scheduled for the morning. Before the birth, the doctors were saying 1-4 weeks in the hospital, now they're saying 3-12 months. The prognosis is good, however, there keep on being problems that could kill the poor child. And I've been here at home with the rest of the kids, doing the homeschool thing and trying to keep them on track.

They're good kids. That's the good thing. But half of my mind and heart is off with B. Now that Rachel and A are home, I'm also acting as Mother's helper. Today, that meant helping her wash and disinfect her new breast pump. She's so small--born at 5lb 8oz--B was 4lb (I don't have the exact weight) but she already has a personality and definite opinions.

But I should get to sleep. After all, tomorrow, I'm going to have to repeatedly remind a three year old that his Mama is feeling delicate and can't pick him up.
