Still trying to get my book into paperback. The person I hired for the formatting failed miserably. So, learning how to format it myself. Lesson learned. Never use anyone on Fivver who isn't a Level 1 or 2.
Our Writers' Guild has monthly challenges. This month, we had to write from an animal's POV. :) Since squirrels are the clowns of the forest, I thought he'd be a fun character for my Uncle. :)
That's one of the cool things about our McD's. There's a lot of people who go there who are really into paranormal stuff. :) It's kind of an Appalachian thing. Appalachia is full of paranormal activity, because of that there's a lot of interest. :)
Congratulations on finishing your book! I think that is a momentous achievement, speaking as a fellow writer. Not many people realize the struggle it takes to become an author. Not everyone is lucky enough to pen a bestseller or to know who to speak with about marketing. Keep fighting the good fight :)
Great memory of a situation that is so foreign to me and yet I feel your delight, even a little wonder I think. Thanks for brightening a rather tedious afternoon.
I forget what it was, but I had to switch to Word from OpenOffice for the final conversion. Somewhere in there the exact instruction does not match or it's different menu words.
Good Luck!
Iguanamountain, Cool! Thanks for the heads up! I found Scrivener doesn't do the best job at formatting either. I ended up downloading Kindle's own program and it was done in a jiffy. Supposedly, you can use the same for paperback, at least that's what Amazon said in the email. I haven't gotten it to work yet. :)
Hey, I use yWriter-5 also and have for years. But for formatting I found this book on Amazon that has all the secret stuff about Microsoft Word that you need to do clean formatting to publish. Check this out: >>Word to Kindle Formatting Magic by Chris McMullen.<< I found things I had no idea about— All the hidden codes and the differences between eBook and Print Books, how to set the options. It's very technical, but that's Microsoft.
