I, too, am very reluctant to ask for help. My sons, especially the younger one, are always ready to help, but I don't ask them unless they ask me if I need this or that to be taken care of.

I like the idea that some of the proceeds go to charities. I wish that happened here but Nevada doesn't participate in the lotteries available. I think it has a lot to do with the casino's not wanting any competition.
A good life, doesn’t have to mean one where you achieve financial successes, or one in which nothing terrible happened.
To me it means a life in which I brought joy or comfort to others I cared for.
It’s a deep question. People say at funerals “he had a good life.” What do they mean? They could say, “he had a hard life.” Maybe “he” was a farmer, he lost his crops or went through drought, floods, or financial hardship. Yet when he left this earth he left behind a family who thought of this man as someone who’d been there for them all their lives. Someone trustworthy, a person they could depend on. Yes, it was a hard life but it was a good life too.
That’s how I want to be remembered, as someone people could depend on. Then I will have had a good life.
