Prompt: Alive at both ends but dead in the middle.

Alive at both ends but a little dead in the middle
Sounds to me like some sort of riddle
Could it be meant as a joke?
Or how someone is after a stroke?

Alive at both ends but dead in the middle
Brain still working but heart’s a jiggle
He’s still walking
And can’t stop talking

Alive at both ends but dead in the middle
Sounds like some people I know
They pretend to be human
But in conclusion
They’re just doing the motions
Not showing emotions
Living a life of pretence
But in their defence
They’re alive at both ends but dead in the middle
