Hats off to you! I don't think I could do what you did. On the other hand, having a lot of people fixing things while you are taking care of the kids and trying to keep them safe would have its own downers, too.
Anyhow, so glad you could and did do all that! That's some feat to be proud of.

I agree the cheetos aka the man who wants to be Hitler and Putin rolled into one, his ignorance will definitely have global impacts.

I've been getting as much as I can in order before my surgery on Monday, February 3rd. I'm having my right knee replaced followed my left shortly after. Writing didn't fit in for me either. Looking forward to seeing more of you in the months ahead.

weather where I live is also unsettling. Took the dogs out for a walk yesterday had some sunshine but today is fog and rain on top of a couple feet of snow turning everything to slush.

Every year I look forward to something called January Thaw. This year we just had a new blizzard every couple days. If the thaw does not show up properly in February, the sap won't run properly from the trees less maple syrup probably. Anyway, forecast says sunshine tomorrow. If we have a freeze in the night all slush will turn to ice.

The feeling was amazing indeed. The first night was the scariest but after that I found so much joy in each task I tried. I've surprised myself on more than one occasion, Yes I can do anything I set my mind to doing.

I can’t say I’d be tempted to go camping on my own, so I think you’re very brave. It would have given you so much confidence knowing you succeeded. Afterwords you must have felt as if there was nothing you couldn’t do on your own.

With the cold temperatures we've been having this far, I suspect that person wouldn't be leaving their house.

I don't know about you, but I've spent a week with no other contact, I found it very enlightening because I discovered how capable I was of doing things myself. This was after my divorce and my ex telling me that I would never go camping or kayaking without him, I was too stupid to do it on my own. I felt like I had a point to prove to myself. Unlike Hanks in the movie, in the back of my head I knew I could reach out and someone would come but I didn't give in I persevered and made it. I burned dinner once, over-turned my kayak once and the tent fell done on me the first night but ultimately I really enjoyed the silence.

How I love a great twist. I enjoy surprising my reader, but it’s not always easy to come up with those last few lines which turns the story on its head. A good way to think of an outlandish twist is to free write about your characters. What if? That seems to throw up some crazy schemes if you just let go of “that couldn’t possibly happen.”

I’d love to write a story
One that you’d never guess.
The ending, will be gory,
A shocking, surprising, mess.

I’d love to hear that gasp, “Oh no!”
I never saw that coming. Did you?
Yes, I thought as much, although,
He did his best to fool you

He’s messing with my mind,
With all those twists and bends.
Leads me down those allies blind
With clues that show dead ends.

A well known master of the twist
Is what I’d love to be.
I’d be subtle, but my antagonist
Killed using the fruit of a poisonous tree!

What? You didn’t see that coming
You really thought it was the maid?
I find that very comforting.
You followed all the paths I’d laid.

What makes you happy about your life right now?

My long marriage to my husband has as most marriages I suppose had it’s ups and downs. The thing is that we seem to be happier now than we have ever. How can that be at our ages of almost 78 and 79?
Perhaps it’s because we realise we’re at the end of the marriage and after 56 years we’re never going to be with anyone else so why not be happy with each other.
I’m enjoying the process of writing a combined novel with eight others from my writing group. We are still flailing in the dark as to how it will come together but it’s fun and makes me happy.
We have another grandchild on the way this year too and that makes me very happy.
