It is interesting. My Grandmother left some post cards from friends which I read and added to my stamp collection. I have a pair of her earrings also that I saw her wear once. Even elderly she was beautiful. Now I wonder who else may have left written things in Grandmas family.
Very nice story. Once on a trail ride. We stopped to eat our roast beef sandwiches. The pony I was riding wanted some and yes ate its share roast beef and all.
Really loved the grittiness of the first poem, taking something that normally brings a sense of wonder, awe and joy into something grim and cynical (and I’m not even really the biggest fan of that style of storytelling). So great job there.
The clock one was eerie as heck, but I loved it. I kind of interpreted it as if the clock turned sentient. Amazing work all around. Faved to reference as inspiration later
Very nicely done, Sumojo. Time is definitely going to betray us when we turn the clocks back on Sunday, and we lose an hour's sleep. I don't know if you have that in Australia. I really wish they would discontinue it here.
When I was a child, we lived rural and no one actually prepared or celebrated Halloween except the classroom in the school. Or, if you lived in a town.
When my children were in school it was a time when suddenly Halloween was a time to beware of what children might find in their Treat bags, if they went trick or treating. As the children grew, we were more likely to buy them a bag of candy then take them into a nearby town to trick or treat.
Halloween for some people is just for fun. For me I basically just ignore it.
Have fun with these words: random, interception, ingredients, cookies, guys or girls, trees, bear, and berries.
These are a selection of very random words today, Lyn. But perhaps they hold the ingredients for an interesting post.
I have just this minute returned from having coffee at a friend’s house and she had made some cookies. They were straight out of the oven and the house smelled of chocolate and berries.
I’ve completed my story for the What a Character Contest. Hopefully I have followed the rules this time. It’s about a plane crash through the heavily treed jungle. The character is the only survivor. She battles the odds and hopes for rescue maybe from her favourite survivalist, Bear Grylls. She wonders why the plane suddenly fell from the sky and thinks there might have been an interception to the mayday call which the pilot surely made before the crash. She waits to be rescued by the guys or girls from the army search and rescue helicopter.
