I’ve loved this whole challenge. The prompt I enjoyed the most, or at least made me ponder, was “what are you waiting for?” It’s a huge question isn’t it?
I’m still not sure what the answer is.
I so enjoyed reading everyone’s replies, each so different in their own inimitable way.
The most impressive each day was from Mr Waltz, he’s a wordsmith extraordinaire! I loved everyone’s input though and look forward to meeting you all again next time. Thank you for all your comments, you’ve made me smile and gave me food for thought.

When do I feel virtuous? Patience is a virtue, so they say, however that’s definitely not one of mine!
I feel virtuous when my house is clean, but I think I’d feel that way even if a hoard of cleaners had descended and done the job.
Mmm, this is a tricky one. Okay, I feel virtuous if I put the cork back in the bottle of wine, when I’d really like another glass, or if I volunteer to drive after a night out so my husband can have a drink.
Looking up the meaning of virtue or the act of being virtuous I’ve decided that I’m not actually a naturally virtuous person, they sound a bit too good to be true.

As this is my first sojourn into the world of Blogging and as part of 30 DBC, I can’t know what prompts have never appeared.
However, how about a really good handy tip that you’d like to share, maybe something you know about a subject that not many people know?
Michael Caine is well known for finishing his sentences with “not many people know that!”

So okay here goes. All polar bears are left handed and it is physically impossible for pigs to look up into the sky. Not many people know that!

Household tip for those Bloggers who were discussing germ/ slime ridden shower curtains earlier on.
Refresh plastic shower curtains by placing them in the washing machine with a few old towels which act as scrubbers to get rid of soap scum and mildew. Rehang to dry.🤗 You’re welcome 😇

Oh, don’t you love advice, especially unsolicited!
I have found the phrase, “ you can’t put an old head on young shoulders,” is an especially true one.
I received advice when I was a young person, which I totally ignored, and so have all my children. They made their own mistakes and learned through them the hard way. It is a shame that we all have to do that, we could be spared a lot of heartache if only we’d just listen.

However these days as an older, hopefully wiser person, I do listen to good advice. I weigh it up and utilise it, if it’s useful and has merit.

Sometimes it’s difficult to act on advice you know is good, because the heart is involved. It takes a lot to stand by and watch a child, even an adult one, keep making the same mistakes over again without feeling the need to rescue. The advice is to walk away. Not sure it’s possible.

Every morning at six am I walk to my neighbour’s house. We usually walk towards each other for about fifty metres until close enough to call a greeting. We’re off for our usual early morning walk, the thing is, although we’ve been doing this for quite a few years, I find myself checking her out and before we’ve broached the space between us I already know certain things about her, mood etc. simply by what she’s wearing or her body language.
This got me to wondering what she actually thinks about me, maybe her thoughts go something like this:
Here she comes, wearing her leggings. At her age! You’d think she’d dress more age appropriately.

Hard to subjectivity look at myself and state how I think I appear to others. Do we see what we want or wish we could see? We all have a self image, which probably doesn’t match up to how others see us, much like when we hear our voices on a recording for the first time, it sounds nothing like ourselves to our ears.

As a woman of a certain age, I tend to avert my gaze in the mirror from the parts I don’t like, new wrinkles and blemishes. However, I think people in general look past outward appearances and see the real person within.
I hope people I interact with see the real me, which is a kind person, empathetic with a ready smile. But someone who has a sense of self preservation, which means I suppose I don’t like to be taken advantage of.

“Okay Sir, I’ll be twenty minutes, just keep your head down.”
Well, that’s a turn up for the books! Who’d have thought Prince Harry would have called me to pick him up from the station? Apparently he’s done a runner from the paparazzi, fooled them he has, with his handlebar moustache and red wig covering up that darned bald patch.
I’d better hurry, poor guy will be sweating, it’s forty degrees centigrade today in downtown Perth Western Australia.

Okay I’m here, now where is he hiding? Oh, there he is! Christ, he looks like Yosemite Sam!

“Hop in sir. It’s not what you’re used to but no one will recognise you in this bright orange 1975 Holden Sandman wagon! That’s it, buckle up, wouldn’t want to get pulled over for wearing no seat belt. Soooo been having a bit of trouble with the missus I hear?”

That was an interesting few days, I think HRH enjoyed the visit and a bit of peace and quiet. Lucy (the dog) liked him, I think she could smell the corgis.

Anyway he’s gone to join Megs and Archie in Whistler, dropped him off at the airport this morning.

My Mother-in-law died recently aged in her nineties and she never lost the ability to write beautifully. She left school at fourteen years of age with great spelling, the times tables under her belt and of course her beautiful copperplate script.
That was when great importance was put on the three R’s.
I too was taught to practice my handwriting at school, but it’s not as neat as it used to be, because my days of hand writing letters have long gone with the advent of the computer and email.
As for our new generations, cursive handwriting is still taught of course in primary schools but once the kids go to high school they mostly use IPads or laptops to complete their homework.
The shorthand usage in their text messages surely must have an impact on their ability to spell correctly too.
Even emojis are taking the place of our need to put words to emotions! 😩 Although I confess to using them🤭

Okay so here I am sitting on this rock in the Australian bush, flies buzzing in my ear. It’s my thinking rock, the place I come to dream up a story for Daily Flash Fiction. I can hear a noise, what can it be? Oh, it’s just some of Angus’s Niggles. I must have dropped a few when I was editing yesterday’s blog.

Okay let’s get this clear, I’m going nowhere unless it’s first class travel.
Right, now we’re sitting/lying comfortably I’ll think about our destination.
I’m a little obsessed by waterfalls, so either Victoria Falls or Niagara will do for a start. I think we’ll skip most of Asia, been there, done that. Oh, but we didn’t do Bhutan, yes we’ll take a trip there. That’s where they measure their GDP in happiness. It’s difficult to reach, tourist numbers are limited and only organised tours are allowed. No individual travellers. Except for people in my group of course.
Europe is overrun with tourists, but as money is no object we’ll be able to have out of hours access to all the sights of Paris, London, Rome, Venice...

It’s very tiring all this travel, I may just stay at home and watch David Attenborough docos.

I have met, loved, and interacted with so many people in my 75 years on this earth, there is no need to invent wholly new characters for my writing. My story characters are an amalgam of many. Probably not done intentionally but inevitably so.
Places are usually from my childhood in England, alien planets and beings are not my thing.
Houses are always two story, even though have I lived in single level ones for nearly fifty years in Australia. Story animals are my dogs, long gone but never forgotten, always in my heart.
Storylines are based on true events, I‘ve found that truth is stranger than fiction and my family and friends are an endless supply of anecdotes which I morph into fiction.
