Prompt: Have fun with these words- talented, adjust, public, nuisance, endorse, strength, strange. stumble and actor.

I’ve been watching a new tv series called The Piano. It’s a classy reality show and I throughly endorse it. Here in Australia, and probably all around the world, we have public pianos, they’re regarded as a joy not a nuisance. Anyone who chooses can sit down and play. The pianos are in all sorts of strange places such as shopping malls and railway stations. So normal run of the mill folk who just enjoy playing are invited to come to Sydney’s main railway station and play on the public piano situated at the bottom of the escalators. They know they’re being filmed but don’t know two judges are watching secretly. They’re all talented pianists who play to their strengths and for their own pleasure. The ones that come cover all ages. There have been children as young as five right up to an old man of 103!
The judges are pianist, musician and actor Harry Connick Jnr and a famous Australian concert pianist.
I loved listening to the individual stories of the pianists. They come from all walks of life and they tell why and how the piano came to be such a large part of their life. Some are breathtakingly brilliant pianists, others play for the pure joy and some take a little time to adjust to playing in public and sometimes stumble over the notes as they play, yet it didn’t detract me from the music and seeing how the instrument fulfilled their lives .
A must watch show.

Remembering Mama/Grandma

My maternal Grandmother was instrumental in my life when I was a young girl. She lived close by and even when really young I used to go and visit her on my own. Her place wasn’t fancy in fact my grandparents were quite poor. The house was tiny, the living room was where everyone gathered. Hardly any room to move. A big square table sat in the middle of the space covered in a wipeable green oilcloth. The big old sideboard on one wall left barely any room between the dining table to squeeze between. On the other side was a big black iron fire range which included an oven. This was used not only to cook on but to dry clothes on a rack hoisted up to the ceiling. Irons were put on a trivet to heat and used to press the laundry.
There was no electricity at the time I used to visit, that was to be installed later. Gas bayonets on brackets were lit each night, but not upstairs. To go to bed we needed a candle. I loved Grandma’s feather bed. It was so deep in feathers it was hard to get out of to use the potty under the bed!
Grandma died in England at eighty and I was living in Australia. I never got to say goodbye and to tell her I loved her

"Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise"
Day 2561 May 24th, 2025
On this day in 1964 The Beatles' made their 4th appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show", which featured an interview and a pre-recorded performance of "You Can't Do That". Did you ever watch The Ed Sullivan Show? What's your favorite Beatles song? If not, the Beatles what was your favorite performance?

The Beatles were a massive part of my life in England when I was in my teens and around the time I married in 1965. We used to long for their next single, and loved every song of theirs. Paul was my favourite singer, and still is! I think I’ve had a crush on him all my life. We were devastated when John was murdered in New York and the world lost a wonderful musician and philosopher. I never got to see them play live but followed their every move. When they went overseas we watched the reactions of fans everywhere. They really were a phenomenon.
Those who weren’t Beatle fans usually followed the Rolling Stones.

Prompt: Have fun with these nine words: junket, exhibition, care, introduce, sketch, door. flock, wreck and discrimination.

I realised this week whilst watching the news, how many politicians are flying all over the world just now, and all of them in a hurry.
President Trump even did a rushed interview whilst poking his head around the door of the plane.
I know there’s a lot going on in the political realm and numerous countries’ leaders need to travel but I wondered how many of the flock are necessary and aren’t on a junket paid for by tax payers.

I enjoy watching the body language as they introduce themselves to each other. They take care not to make an exhibition of themselves by making some faux par which could appear the next day on the world’s media. The diplomats amongst them do what they do best by ensuring there’s no discrimination shown to anyone.
Air travel has never been a favourite mode of travel for me as I always look a wreck after flying. But I suppose the pollies always fly business class and can at least sleep. To pass the time I sketch people sleeping, often with mouths wide open.

Prompt:
What drains your energy in your life? And in what ways can you stay grounded in stressful situations?

Other people drain my energy, especially ones who seem to enjoy making their lives and those of others miserable. I'm talking of someone very close to me and today she has gone too far. I've had to come to a conclusion, one I've reached many times and stupidly forgotten or should it be forgiven?
My husband and I find that a little walk in the park, watching little children play keeps us grounded and we try not to project what those innocent children's future will bring.

Stress is a killer and this week has been a bit of a test. We lost our beautiful dog after over 12 years. She has never given us stress in fact she's absorbed much of our stress in her own calm way. We certainly could have done without any added stress this week. This has only served to prove the time has come to say "No More!

Every year despite the book about the deaths that occur each year climbing people pay thousands of dollars to climb Mt. Everest. If you had the money would you try or not? What do you think the fascination is with climbing?

I don’t, and never have had the ability to climb a mountain. Yet I can understand the motives of those who can climb. I’ve never been afraid of heights. I love the exhilarating feeling of being high up off the ground. The air is different, fresher, cleaner.
My dream would to fly like a bird and the nearest I ever got to that was a hot air balloon flight. We went through the clouds and flew in the bright blue sky, the sun shining down on us. I would still like to paraglide but it’s looking less likely now.
Even though I love heights I hate flying in an aircraft because I’m claustrophobic and have a fear of being trapped anywhere. Tunnels, caves and enclosed spaces, I avoid at any cost.

Prompt: Write a letter of complaint to the month of May.

Dear May, I’m writing to complain about your early arrival. I know it’s considered to be better early than late but you caught me on the hop as I hadn’t yet prepared to make you welcome.
I’m given to understand you’re just one member of a group of twelve, calling yourselves 2025. I’ve taken into consideration the fact you’re as yet an inexperienced group and in a rush to prove you’re the fastest year yet, but I must warn you, people will not look on you favourably if you insist on shortening the weeks and days. You might think by losing an hour here or there no one would possibly notice, but I for one am aware of your plan and writing this letter to you to express my displeasure.
My advice to you, dear May, is to have a group meeting as soon as possible. Tell them to slow down or, mark my words, December will get ideas above her station and will fly past you all. She will be in front and flouting Christmas before you’ve even noticed.

And while I have your attention, May, so far you haven’t delivered much in the way of good news. So get a grip, pull up your socks, and do what you were born to do. Remember little April brought her showers, now all you need to do is bring forth May flowers.
