** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Hi, I'm Elle. I'm based in Auckland, New Zealand. I'm the mother of two young adults, the wife of an entrepreneurial gamer and the Queen of Unfinished Projects. This blog will contain poems, short stories, possibly photos and book reviews if you're lucky, and my thoughts on a variety of topics. Hope you enjoy it. |
In the early days of Writing.Com, SM and SMs hosted in-person Conventions for members! Share your thoughts on what a Convention hosted today might look like. Where would it be hosted? How many members could attend? What activities would take place? Who would you want to meet in person? ~ "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" ![]() I would LOVE to go to a WDC convention. That would be so awesome. When I've travelled overseas, I've always tried to connect with other WDC members, but it hasn't been easy to make it work. On my first trip to the UK in 2014, I met up with Jellyfish - HAPPY 25th WDC!! ![]() ![]() ![]() As those three will be able to tell you, I struggle with meeting new people in real life. I go very quiet and self-conscious. Jenny is wonderfully outgoing, so she and Dodgy Steve ![]() ![]() So if there was actually a WDC convention, I'd be happy to run activities, give a speech, play hostess, any of that stuff. I've done that for companies that I've worked for before. I have no problem with public speaking or whatever. But all of that falls into the category of 'I have a purpose in talking to you'. As soon as it goes down to idle introductory chitchat, I'm screwed. I can't do the 'Hi, I'm Elle, lovely to meet you' without feeling like a total dickwad, unless I've perceived that the other person is shy, lonely or lost, in which case I have a purpose. See how it works? So I come across as totally self-confident because I can be the one greeting everyone as they arrive, and I can stand up and do a speech in front of 200+ people, but I can't walk up to a group of three or four people and join in their conversation. ![]() It would be SO awesome to have a convention in NZ, but that'll never happen. Not an official one at any rate. I bet Warped Sanity ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There are so many people I'd love to meet. I know that people will get butt hurt (as Warped Sanity ![]() Gaby ![]() Fran 🌈🧜♀️ ![]() Osirantinous ![]() Rhonda ![]() Cinn ![]() Fivesixer ![]() ANN Counselor, Lesbian & Happy ![]() Witchy Woman ![]() Charlie ~ ![]() Shaye ![]() THANKFUL SONALI Party Hopping! ![]() Kit ![]() Jayne ![]() And hey, if I've won squillions, it's my shout. ![]() If you're not on that list, well, what I can say? You obviously need to try harder to ingratiate yourself with me. ![]() A convention would be even better than a one-on-one though, because then you'd get the group dynamics, like Cinn and Norb triggering each other and what-have-you. ![]() |
