You just want to read? These entries will be freshly written for a contest. Since I plan on joining many then I'm putting them all in a book. Sit back and enjoy it. I'll try to do a (poem) line count, (story) word count, prompt, and which contest I entered in. Though I won't be mentioning it in the piece, but "The Contest Challenge" |
| Kate Pately clocked in at her first day on the job: security officer. She knew there had been some mysterious things happening at the place. The disappearance of paper and computers was one of those things. She intended to get down to the mystery. It had to be a wild creature on the loose. It just had to be. Everything was cleaned daily. The building was locked shut at night. And she had a nighttime job now. The graveyard shift. She wandered the place until she got to a dark hallway. Noises and paper scrunching could be heard coming from the end. She took out her Physic element Rish Aportax, a kind of rodent that was perfect for the job. They silently went ahead of her. Danger. She thought of her boyfriend. His concern for her about the new job and everything. She will make it for him. The creature attacked. It was at level one. She had trained to level 10. This should be easy. It seemed to be of the Ghost element. Physical moves didn't affect it. So she had to rely on her creatures. Her rodents pinpointed it against the wall, making sure it didn't disappear to the other side, with their physic powers. "Beast mind. This is a human. A beast human that had not been caught or tamed." She wondered what kind of food it ate. Then she examined all the munched up paper. It liked wood. And electricity. She conjured a batch of beasttamer food and sat it down in front of it. The rodents immediately let it go. It fell for the bait. It happily munched down on her offering. Then it turned to her and bowed, revealing everything. Her boyfriend. Her heart lurched in her chest. He had a dark secret he didn't know about. he was always tired in the daytime. Had struggled with life on the street since he graduated. Now, she knew the answer to his problems. Immediately, she called for a Beasttamer. With help, he could live a normal life and they could be happily married to each other. Word Count: 351 Prompt: A new job "The Weekly Quickie Contest" |
