Welcome to my world, prepare to be entertained. Take off your shoes and plan to stay awhile, especially if you like crazy because crazy is my specialty. I live in an igloo by the ocean, and by igloo by the ocean I mean I'm full of shit and live in a four-bedroom house in which I spend most my time in the basement rec room which doubles as my bedroom in suburbia smack right in the middle of Canada. Single father to six amazing and evil genius kids who are the bane of my existence but I love them more than anything in the world. Two pet cats and a partridge in a pear tree, oh wait wrong song. Writer, Artist, Lover and all kinds of "Special" wrapped up in a tin foil ball waiting for someone to see the true crazy! Won't you come in and stay a while?
I've had cats, and now for 25-odd years, I have dogs. My dog died almost 2 years ago after more than 15 years of companionship. I felt so alone. My answer was to get a new dog immediately after 1 1/2 months of grieving. It helped me cope with the loss and focus on a new life. But as you say that's personal. I hope you will take the time to mourn and perhaps look for another furry baby. Animals are so important in one's life!
People in the US wonder why many of the nomads, street people, and homeless people have dogs. The loneliness can be devastating. Cats and other pets are less frequent on the streets, but just as important. A cat and a dog would've helped me get through the isolation imposed by covid.
It is good to hear from you and so glad you found abut about the suture. I am glad your relationship is going well. I have been very lazy when it comes to writing lately-just can't get anything down that I really like. I also had cataracts removed from both of my eyes which went very well but now I need new glasses for close work so next week I go for those. Hope I can get back to reading and writing again. Keep putting one foot in front of the other. Life is as good as my attitude, I've found. Take take and sending virtual hugs.
I was very sick when I got back from Thailand. Couldn't get warm, couldn't stay warm. It's taking over one week to feel 'normal'... just don't ask about sleep or whether I'm getting anything done.
Good luck on moving. I am supposed to be downsizing here. Anyone want books? I am returning to Thailand shortly. I feel physically and emotionally better there.
I am so sorry to hear all of this, Chris. What about your Mom, other children and your brother and family? Aren't any of them helping you out with anything?
Wish I could be of more help but have my own family crisis here. My Chris just was extubated and taken out of ICU. Life s a rollercoaster for sure.
Can you at least use Face time or Skype to see or talk to your daughter?
The entire handling of the Russia thing has me perplexed as well. I hope you get good news on the status of your family members very soon. Wondering and worrying are not good companions.
Sorry to hear that you took a tumble and I hope by now your back is feeling better!
As for your contest, "Invalid Item" , ADVERTISE it! Every time you change the prompt, post a note in the newsfeed. People forget to check and every time you advertise it, someone new may see it which will expand your audience. Son't worry about posting in the newsfeed too much! Changing the prompt IS news, so just do it! Hell, I post QOTD in the newsfeed 6 days a week!
And I agree with NaNoNette regarding changing the format and using a forum will give it more of an activity/contest feel. If you have any questions or need help, give me a holler! Don't give up on this contest just yet!
Yes to everything you wrote about the war and Putin. I feel the same way.
About your contest. I don't know. Maybe daily is too frequent. It's a lot of work to do anything every day. Maybe make it weekly.
I also wonder if the type of item you use makes it harder to interact with it. Have you thought about using a message forum for it?
Have a look at Lilli 🧿 ☕'s Question of the day forum.
