Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Luke 9:2-6 2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. 3 And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. 4 And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. 5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. 6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where. Have you ever gone out witnessing? Write about your experience. Answer: Yes, I have gone out door to door witnessing and inviting people to church. Overall, every time I have done so, it has been a positive experience. When I was a little girl, I would go out with my mother. She wanted me to learn how to share the gospel and pray with others. We simply invited people to our church. If they requested prayer, we would pray with them right then and there. These were some good times with my mother. As an adult, I never forgot going out with my mother. I think it helped me have a boldness I would not otherwise have. I also went out as an adult to try to help build the membership of a small country church. This is another experience I won’t forget. I went with an eldely lady who was strong in her faith. She taught me quite a bit about being able to read people to see if they were really interested or not. We had some great front porch conversations with believers and none-believers alike. She taught me how to witness in a respectful way to others with different beliefs while remaining firm in my own. This lady has since passed away, but I will never forget the friendship she showed me, the fellowship with others, or the lessons she taught me. I feel we need to have wisdom and the leading of the Holy Spirit when we are sharing our beliefs with others. Our gospel is a gospel of Peace. Our God is a God of peace. We have to be ready to be respectful of others, suffer criticism, and humble ourselves to effectively witness to others. We can't cram the gospel down people’s throats and except them to listen. Jesus is a gentle Savior, not a cruel and forceful one. God is a God of love, and we must share the gospel in a loving way. The Gospel is about making people whole, not tearing them apart with actions and words.

If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; Observations: Verse 6- If we are going to fast, these are the acceptable reasons. It is to break the bounds of evil from our lives and others. Verse 7- God desires that we continue to do good works while we are fasting. We are to feed the hungry, help the poor, give clothes to who needs them, and take care of our own family’s needs as well. Verse 8- If we fast for this reason, there are promises that go along with it. Your health will recover, you will experience God's glory, and you will see the light. Take UP Your Cross Prompt: What is the meaning of Philippians 2:7? Philippians 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: Answer: He humbled himself. He didn't come in acting like God and all better than us. He came in acting like one of us, and not only that, but took on one of the lowest social statuses. I don't think he could be much more humble. What do you think?

Observations: Verse 1- We must continue to walk in the love of Christ. Verse 2- We should always be kind to everyone, especially strangers. We never know when we are entertaining angels without knowing it. Verse 3- We should not forget to be kind to those who are in prison or are suffering for other reasons even if they deserve it. Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Like 3:4-6 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; 6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. Write about how God has made your paths strait. Answer: I think this happens for most people as they turn the control of their life over to God. Some change is more gradual than others. I have learned that it is getting into the Word of God and staying in it that creates the change. It was not until I started reading my Bible regularly that true change began to happen in my own life. The Bible itself talks about the washing of water by the Word of God. Ephesians 5:23-29 23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church

Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Psalm 37:4-5 4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. Write about a time God gave you a desire of your heart. Answer: When my roommate and I moved into these apartments, we had been living with her brother for 3 years in a miserable situation. Right after our application was approved, the ownership of the apartments changed. The new owners told us if we had not already had our application approved through the other company, they would not have approved us. God had our backs. Plus we only had to pay one pet deposit for 2 small dogs. The new company wasn't happy about that, but thankfully, I had gotten everything in writing. So we moved in back in 2015 and have been here ever since then. It has actually been a very nice apartment complex. I feel so blessed to be here.

Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Write about a time you asked the Lord for directions and he told you what to do. Answer: I am always asking God for directions. Isaiah 30:21 is a reality to me. Isaiah 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. One day when I was doing laundry in the laundry room of the apartment complex I live in, I saw an elderly lady struggling to bring her laundry in to do it. I felt compelled to help her, so I did. I heard the still small voice say, “You need to pray for her” I prayed with her right there in the laundry room. It turns out that she is a fellow believer in Christ. A couple of weeks later, I ran into her in the laundry room again. She had a story to tell me. After the previous visit to the laundry room where I had prayed with her, she had gone to the ER. She had been feeling very week. She told me she had almost died that night. You see, after she had gone to the hospital, they found out she was internally bleeding. They had to do an emergency surgery to find and stop the bleeding and gave her a blood transfusion. She ended up staying in the hospital a few days. She was praising God and thanking me in tears for praying for her. We had a little praise and worship session right there in the laundry room thanking God for his protection and healing.

Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Psalm 118:5 I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place. Write about a time that you called upon the Lord and he rescued you. Answer: God has rescued me many times. I have even seen angels with my own eyes on more than one occasion. I live in Oklahoma, so I have a funnel cloud story. There was a lowering funnel cloud headed straight for my parents’ house where I was at. I prayed for God's protection. I had hung up clothes to dry on the clotheslines that day. We had not expected the storm. I would normally take my tornado precautions, but I felt led by the Spirit to talk directly to the cloud. I went outside where I could see the lowering in the cloud. The clothes were blowing so hard in the wind, I thought they might all blow away. I looked directly at the cloud and said, “Do not come down. You will not do any damage today, in Jesus’ name.” I saw the cloud immediately raise back up and the winds calm down. I felt the Holy Spirit’s presence, and I just started praising God. The Lord calmed the storm and rescued me and my family from disaster.
