Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. How do we know a blessing is from the Lord? Answer: A blessing from God is a true blessing. It doesn't make extra burdens. It makes you better, not bitter.

Observations: Verse 12- Be merciful, kind, humble, meek, and long-suffering. Verse 13- Forgive one another. Don't make rash judgements. Verse 23- Do everything you do passionately for God, not for men. Verse 24- you will be rewarded by Christ because you serve him. Christ writes your spiritual paychecks. Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Proverbs 10:6-7 6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. 7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot. What do these verses say about the differences between the just and the wicked? Which category do you and the people you know fall in? Answer: I know people from both categories. When the wicked die, people are not sad to see them go, sometimes their own families. I have known very just people who’s funeral’s we're larger than the building could accommodate because of all the good the person had done. Violence is not of God. God is a God of peace.

Observations: Verse 6- since no harm came to Paul after the snake bit him, the people off the island thought he was a god. Verse 7- A chief man of the island lodged them there 3 days out of courtesy. Verse 8- The man’s father became ill. So Paul prayed for him soit was healed. Verse 9- when other people heard of this, others came to be healed. Verse 10- They were able to leave the island with everything that was necessary to finish their journey. Application: One good deed deserves another. Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Deuteronomy 281-14 1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. 3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. 4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. 5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. 6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. 7 The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. 8 The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. 9 The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways. 10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee. 11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee. 12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. 13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: 14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them. This is the promise of blessing to those who are the people of God. We are not only blessed but overtaken by blessings. If our life is lacking in blessing, what can we do to obtain these blessings from the Lord? How are we blessed? Answer: These verses explain the blessings very well. I need to make sure that I am Seeking Jesus and the kingdom of God first. Then all these things shall be added unto me.

Observations: The ship that Paul was on had wrecked. They ended up on an island where there were Barbaric people, people who were considered primitive or uncivilized. Normally, barbarous people were considered to be cruel and dangerous. These people ended up being extremely nice to them. The lit a fire for warmth considering the rainy weather. A poisonous snake bit Paul on the hand, and they expected him to get sick and/or die. They thought surely vengeance had taken him out from some horrible crime like murder that he may have committed. He just shook the snake off into the fire and continued his merry way. No harm ever came to him as a result of the snake bite. Application: Even barbaric people can show a lot of kindness when they choose to. When we are laboring for the Lord, God protects us. Prayer: Dear God, Thank you for your protection. Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Psalm 128:1-6 Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways. 2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. 3 Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. 4 Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord. 5 The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. 6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel. What does it mean to fear the Lord? Should we be afraid of anything else? Answer: The Lord should be our only fear. Everything else is nothing compared to the power of Almighty God.

Observations: Basically, these verses are saying that the group of people with Paul was received gladly. Paul then gave them a report of his mission work. Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Psalm 112:1-8 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. 2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever. 4 Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. 5 A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. 6 Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. 7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. 8 His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. How can we apply these verses to our own life? Answer: When we trust in the Lord, we have nothing to fear. God is our refuge and strength. To live is Christ and to die is gain. It is win-win.

And she constrained us. Observations: Lydia sold purple for a living. The Lord opened her heart to hear Paul's message. She and her household were baptized which indicates Salvation. She was hospitable in offering Paul and his company a place to stay. Apparently they were having a prayer meeting with the women. Application: It is the Lord that opens someone’s heart to receive the message of Salvation. Prayer: Dear God, Help us to be a witness to others.
