Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes. What does it mean to do what is right in your own eyes? Is this something you do personally? Answer: To me, this is referring to self-righteousness. There probably wasn't any government in that time and area. These people did what they personally thought was right which could vary from person to person. You can be doing what you think is right and a lot of good deeds, but if they are outside of God's will for you, you are committing sin. This is why this verse is in a negative context. I am sure we have all been guilty of this at some point in our lives. It is something I try to avoid doing now that I am aware of it. In the verses yesterday, they say that in all our ways we are to acknowledge God and he will direct our paths and to lean not to our own understanding. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Observations: Verse 5- God is a God of peace and consolation. He wants us all to be united through Jesus Christ. Verse 6- This glorifies God. Verse 7- receive others the way God receives you. Application: God wants us to be at peace and console one another. He wants us to be united together for his glory. Prayer: Dear God, Thank you for your mercy and grace. Tell us about a special place and moment in your life. One of my most cherished childhood memories was of my Dad’s mother pushing me in my backyard tree swing and singing “Swing Low Sweet Chariot” to me while I swang. My Dad had tied a rope to a big tree branch and placed a board he had fitted for it across the bottom for a seat. I loved that old home-made swing. I spent many hours in that tree swing while I was growing up. After I became an adult, the rope finally rotted and fell apart. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ![]() ![]() If you were to prepare dinner for the President and First Lady, what would you prepare? Would you be the host or let someone else be? Would you spring for table decorations for the table or leave it as is? I would not spend extra money to decorate. I would probably make everything look as nice and neat as possible. I would be honest and I would continue to be myself. I would treat them like an honored guest rather I like the president or not. I would give them the respect and their security the respect the title deserves. I would prepare a nice meal with desert and some iced tea to go along with some southern hospitality. I am no celebrity and even if I was I will be myself. It is too difficult to be and maintain someone you are not. I know because I am a preacher’s kid. I will not play the pretend game just to be accepted. I am accepted for who I am or not at all.

Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Nelson Henderson What are your thoughts about this quote? Life’s meaning is different for different people just like their sense of purpose. I do not place the value of my life upon how many trees I plant. This is not my life’s meaning. If taken figuratively, I can see this as a good principle to follow. Figuratively, I could see this meaning that you should give to not expect anything in return. Life is so much more than that though. Life’s meaning for me is found living in Jesus Christ. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I want to thank Princess Megan Rose (2746) for covering for me. Take UP Your Cross Prompt: James 2:14-17 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Does your life reflect your faith in Christ? Why or why not? Answer: I do believe that it does now. I make it a priority to read my Bible daily and pray daily. I have cleaned up my language and I am more careful about the things I watch and listen to. I am working at better anger control and remaining at peace. It is when I lose my temper that I have an issue controlling my language. I am not where I want to be, but I am not where I once was either. God is still working on me and so am I. Being a Christian isn't being perfect. It is being saved by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Do you read the Bible and/or pray daily? Why or why not? Answer: Yes, I do. The Bible has become a very important part of my life.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Discussion Questions 1. Why is it important to prepare Spiritually? You never know when the Devil will plan to attack. You need to be ready spiritually like you would be prepared to react in case of fire or tornado. 2. How can we Spiritually prepare for hard times? Pray and read our Bible Daily and listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit. 3.What choices during hard times can we make to bring more peace into our life? We can choose to not react immediately and to give ourselves time to think first. We can try to avoid circumstances, people, movies, shows, etc...as much as possible that take away our peace. 4. What are some hard things you have faced? My parents and other family members dying. Abuse. Arguments. Heath issues. 5. How have you gotten through hard times in the past? How has God helped you? God always has come through for me and got me through those times. Sometimes it was the still quiet voice of the Spirit. Other times he sent people to me just when I needed them. He supplied things in advance I didn't know needed until I needed them. He would reveal a scripture, story, or poem at the right time. He would allow me to feel his presence. 6.What should our attitude be when facing seemingly hopeless situations? Hope in God because all things work together for my good. 7. In what way is this piece of armor offensive/defensive? It is a defense because it can keep us calm in ugly situations. It is an offense when we repay evil with good. Vengeance is the Lord's. 8. Where are you currently facing a battle at the moment? My pastor is telling me I should not teach a Bible study because I am a woman and women aren't supposed to teach men. What do you think? I have already been instructed by the Holy Spirit to take a stand and to not stop doing the Bible studies. I will have a meeting with him Tuesday morning to discuss it. As crazy as it may seem, I could face disciplinary action from him and the church for this including being excommunicated from the church. I don't know how this is going to turn out. Pray for me if you will. It is ironic that I am writing studies on the armor of God and am going through this battle of my own. 9. Are you ready with the Gospel of peace? I certainly am trying to be prepared. 10. What can you do to make yourself more ready with the Gospel of peace? I could memorize more Scripture with the references so I can have them at a moment's notice. Friday- Write about how you can share God's peace with other people. I can share God's peace not only by telling others what Christ did for me but by being at peace with everyone as much as humanly possible. Observations: Verse 38- Martha received Jesus into her house. Verse 39- Martha's sister Mary sat at the feet of Jesus to hear his Words. Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Philippians 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Do you have a plan ready to share the gospel if the opportunity presented itself? What would you do or say? Answer: My primary plan is to start by sharing my own personal testimony or experience. What I would do or say depends on the person I am dealing with. Having been in a customer service setting a lot of times previously while I was working, I can read people at least to a point. Sometimes you have to use different approaches with different people.

Observations: Verse 18- Faith is shown by works Verse 19- You do well to believe in God, but you should also fear him like the demons do. Verse 20- Your faith is dead if your works don't back it up. Verse 21- Abraham was justified by his works. Verse 22- His works resulted from his faith, and showed his faith to be perfect. Verse 23- Abraham had faith in God and was counted righteous because of it. Verse 24- True belief and faith will always be displayed by works. Application: Bottom line: True belief and faith will always be displayed by works. Actions speak louder than Words. Prayer: Dear God, Let my actions display my faith in you. I want to be counted righteous too. Help me to remain faithful. Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Write your favorite Bible verse? Why is this your favorite verse? Answer: Psalm 37:23-24 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. This tells me the Lord delights to lead me and direct my paths. It is his pleasure to help me. I will not be completely destroyed or cast down because the Lord will hold me up.

Accepting entries for April ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is the link to the group I do these Scripture writings with on Facebook if anyone else is interested in doing so also. https://www.facebook.com/groups/dailyscripturewritingplan/?ref=share Scripture writing - James 2:14-17 Scripture: 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Observations: Verse 14- It is one thing to say you believe in something. It is an active belief when your actions show it. Verse 15 & 16- If you know someone is in need, and all you give them is well wishes, how is that going to help them. You can show that you believe they truly are in need by giving them what ever it is that they need. Verse 17- Belief in Jesus Christ without out actions to back it up profits no one. Application: It is one thing to believe something, but it is another to prove it. Actions speak louder than words. Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Help me to show my faith through action. Help my love for you to be more than just words. May people see and know you through the life I live.
