Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Proverbs 3:33-35 33 The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. 34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly. 35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools. What are your thoughts about these verses? Answer: Shame and curse are for the wicked. Blessings and grace are for the righteous. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

![]() PROMPT May 30th Congratulations on making it to the last day of the competition! What was your favorite prompt from the last month? What was the most rewarding aspect of participating in the competition? The most rewarding aspect is that I learned from this experience. For one thing, I realized I do like having Sundays as optional blogging as opposed to mandatory. I hadn’t realized how much I like have that more relaxed day until now. I learned some things about blogging. For example, I learned you can write more than you think you can on a prompt if you put your mind to it. I noticed people who were able to write more than me in this competition. I know they probably scored more points than I did. However, I still won from this on my takeaway. I learned from reading the blog entries of others. Even if you don't like a prompt, you can write about why you don't like it. Of course, the ones you like and can most relate to are the ones which you can write more about. I know that if I enter this contest again in the future, I can do a little better just from having this original experience. I will admit I struggled a few days this month. I wasn't feeling good some days. Some days, I was honestly struggling with depression and grief. There were a couple of prompts that struck a nerve and I really didn't want to write about it. I pushed myself and wrote anyway even if it was just a line or two. There were some days I was pressed for time. I am glad I participated in this win or lose because I learned from it. That in itself is valuable. I think the prompt I liked best was the one about living through historical events. I have lived through a couple of those. 😉 The best part of living through historical events is surviving them. Lol 🤷♀️ |
Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Proverbs 3:30-32 30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm. 31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. 32 For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous. What does this mean to you? Answer: Pursue peace with everyone. Avoid oppressing anyone. God is a God of peace. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PROMPT May 29th We need your help filling the Challenge War Chest with new prompts for future rounds of the 30DBC! Write three of your own prompts and then use one of them to finish the rest of your entry. 1. What are your hobbies?/What do you like to do in your spare time? 2. What is your dream vacation? 3. Have you ever ever been to another country than the one you were born in? Write about it. I went to Mexico once as a teenager. It was a mission trip. We built a small one-room house for a family there. Renosa, Mexico is right across the border down by Mission, Texas. My part in working on the house was painting one whole outside wall of it. It was painted light blue. The small house had a couple of windows and a sheet of tin for the roof. It was a plywood structure and plywood flooring. It honestly looked more like a storage shed than a house, and I think some storage sheds are bigger. Sadly, this house was very nice compared to some other houses in the area. Some of the other houses, had cardboard walls. We don't know how blessed we are here in America until we have witnessed something like this. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Only a couple of more days left in May. Entries need to be in by the end of the day Monday. You could write something pertaining Military Appreciation for Memorial Day. Are you planning on attending Memorial Day festivities like parades or picnics or fireworks? What's your feeling about public events at this time? I have no plans for Memorial Day. I have mixed feelings about public events. I am not 100 percent sure we are not demasking too soon. I realize those of us who have had the vaccine, need to test it to see how effective it is. However, there are those of us with chronic health issues that still don't need to catch the virus. I am honestly nervous about removing my mask in public. The mask has become a false sense of security for me. The mask isn't foolproof, but it does help protect you from the virus. I am not as nervous outdoors as I am in enclosed areas. I am definitely taking caution inside of Walmart. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We stayed in the Nebula today looking at the new stars. that discusses love and loneliness. Do you think there is someone for everyone? Why or why not? I don't think everyone was meant to be married. There are some people who were meant to remain single all their lives. I think if you truly were made by God to need. Significant other, he will provide that right someone at just the right time. God provides our every need. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ![]() On Memorial Day weekend many families place flowers or mementoes on their family member's graves. Do you follow this tradition or do you have a tradition of your own to remember loved ones.? I used to place flowers on the graves every year, but I don't any more. I remember and honor my loved ones who have passed before me by trying to live my best life now. Unfortunately, flowers on their graves won’t bring them back, and it can keep you in your grief with a constant reminder that they are gone.

Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Proverbs 3:27-29 27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. 28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee. 29 Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee. Explain these verses. Answer: Help people when you are able. Do not turn them away if you can fulfill their needs if they are truly in need. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PROMPT May 28th What would you do if you knew you could not fail? I might do several things. I might go on a gospel singing your just for the fun of it. I would have my own successful business that I could manage on the road or from home. I would also write a #1 bestseller book series and other books. As a result, I would be able to pay off all debts and purchase my dream home and car. I would then have money to help others, maybe I could found a new Charity for the homeless or less fortunate. I may as well dream big. 🤷♀️ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take UP Your Cross Prompt: In Luke 10:38-41 we find Mary and Martha. Martha is complaining because Mary is listening to Jesus and not helping Martha prepare dinner. Jesus says that Mary is doing the right thing sitting at His feet. Are you sitting at Jesus's feet? How? Answer: I like to think I do. I’d rather be embraced in his arms, but I will take what I can get just to be in his presence. 😉 I am at his feet or in his presence always, especially when I am having my nightly devotion time. Oh, to be so much closer to him! The Bible also says he inhabits our praise. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PROMPT May 27th Write about your first _______. (You fill in the blank. Ex: first car, first job, first crush, first week at college, etc) At 44, I have had a lot of firsts, and hope to have more. I think I am going to go with a more recent one. I had always hoped to be in a bowling league but had never felt like I was good enough to do that. Well, when I was 40, that all changed. I would do it again if I felt healthy enough. It was fun. My roommate has a teenaged niece. Her brother/ niece’s father went looking for an activity he could do with her over the summer. He looked into bowling leagues because some allow youth to earn college scholarships. He ran across one called 9-pin no-tap. This league was designed for youth and adults both, but you only had to knock over 9 pins to get a strike. They called for 4 people on a team. So my roommate’s brother asked me and my roommate if we would be interested in doing that league with him and his daughter. Since you didn't have to be a pro-bowler to do it, we kind up jumped at the opportunity. After that league was over, me and my roommate’s brother went on to do a sanctioned league. I am glad I had the experience. I am still no pro, but my skill improved a lot. I even learned how to put a curve to the ball as it is going down the lane. I think the highest score I ever got was a 172. Somehow I managed to earn an achievement token the Bowling Ally gives out for a high average. That was awesome! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't watch a lot of tv. I watch movies occasionally but not all the time. The movie I really like is utterly ridiculous. I like the movie, “Cry Baby”. It has Johnny Depp in it. It is so stupid, I find it funny. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Today while cruising the Crab Nebula, we encountered a star in the making. Perry Ride (28) writes the question on a lot of people's minds.
What do you think? I think we should look at our relationship with Christ from a perspective of a significant other. The Bible compares the relationship of the Christian with Christ to that of a husband and wife. The closest description we get to describe God's love is that of a spouse. Now consider how God must feel when we turn our backs on him, when we are silent, or when we check out another “religion”. This is how the Nation of Israel is described in the Old Testament as they pursued other gods and worshipped them. God was hurt and as a result angry and offended. The nation of Israel suffered as a result. I have no way of knowing how many people reading this have ever truly been “in love”. Those that have been, will understand what I am about to say. For the rest, let me see if I can describe it to a point. It is a very intense, strong feeling of desire to be with another person. It is wanting to experience a heated passion so strong it is hard to resist. The other person is just about all you can think about. You can't get enough of them. With everything you do, you are thinking of that person. They make you feel complete. Without that person, your heart is devastated and broken. In a sense, you pursue that person with everything in you. Guys, this is how God wants to be loved by you. He wants us to pursue him with everything in us. He wants us to talk to him and spend time with him. He wants us to think about him all the time. He doesn't want us to feel complete without him. He wants us to be devastated by sin as it separates you from him. He wants everything you do to be done for him. What passionate love our Heavenly Father has for us! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ![]() Please discuss the weather in your area. Are you experiencing different weather from years past or is it the basically the same? Like for us here, these is the third time this month we've had tornado warnings. We've not had them before. Our sky was a crazy green with lots of wind when the alerts came. Here in Oklahoma today, we have an enhanced risk for tornadoes. We already have storms firing up to the north. We are watching our weather today. Otherwise we haven't had a lot of tornadoes this year. I was hoping tornado season forgot to show up this year.

Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Proverbs 3:19-24 19 The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. 20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew. 21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: 22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. 23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. 24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. What does this Scripture passage mean to you? Answer: I believe this is saying that by wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, God formed the earth and everything in it to run smoothly. So we should also values wisdom, understanding, and knowledge. They will help us be safe, live a better, longer life, and help us sleep well at night. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PROMPT May 25th Write about the most exciting, odd, or valuable thing you’ve found on the ground or abandoned on the side of the road. Invent a story about where the object came from and who owned it before you found it. I don't know if I want to admit this, but sometimes you can find some awesome stuff in dumpsters. Now, I don't make a habit of dumpster diving. However, sometimes I can not help but notice things. For an example, a couple weeks ago I found a large framed picture of Troy Aikman of the Dalas Cowboys just leaning against the dumpster. That was a pretty awesome find, and it was still in some fairly great condition. Some pictures like this sell for over $100 online. I can only imagine where it came from. I could picture a couple breaking up. The scorned lover takes whatever belongings that are left behind and throws them in the dumpster. Why would someone throw away a great collectible picture of Troy Aikman? It had to be to get rid of a memory or someone obviously didn't know it's value! It's mine now! 😃 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Proverbs 3:13-18 13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. 14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. 16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. 17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her. This is what Solomon thought about wisdom and understanding and the value of it. What do you think about wisdom and understanding? Answer: Wisdom and understanding go hand in hand. It is useless to have one without the other. You can have all the knowledge in the world and it will do you no good without the wisdom, understanding, and common sense to use it properly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PROMPT May 24th Write about a movie or television show you watched recently that blew you away. What lessons can you learn from the show and incorporate into your own writing? I am a writer. I don't watch a lot of movies or tv. I would rather be the entertainment than being entertained. I would rather be doing than sitting and watching the lives of others as my own life passes me by. I don't condemn those who do. This is just my personal opinion. This is a part of who I am. It has been several months since I watched a movie that had an impact on me. I think the last time this happened was when I purposely took a movie day, I do on rare occasions. I watched the first 2 God's Not Dead movies and loved them. They were thought provoking. Do you really believe in God, and are you willing to make sacrifices for Christ like he sacrificed his life for you? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Observations: Verse12- wicked people plot against good people. Verse 13- The Lord laughs at the wicked because their day of judgement is coming. Verse 14- The wicked attempt to follow through with their wicked plots. Verse 15- Their will be caught by their own snares and injured by their own sword because they plot against the righteous. Verse 16- Even if the righteous only have a few possessions, it is better than having many riches as a wicked person. Verse 17- The Lord upholds the righteous but the wicked will suffer because of their evil works. Application: The Lord preserves the righteous, but the wicked are destroyed. Prayer: Dear God, Deliver us from evil. Help us to remember the end of the wicked when they are doing well and seem to be getting away with everything. It is a decision.” Paolo Coelho How do you feel about the idea of repeated mistakes being decisions? Have you ever done such mistake-decisions in a repeated manner, and what do you think caused it? It depends on the mistake. Sometimes they turn into lapses in judgment. A friend of mine and I joke about ex boyfriends being lapses in judgement, aka bad decisions. However, some repeated mistakes are results of habits which are hard to break. An example of this would be someone trying to stop cussing and accidentally repeatedly slips up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prompt: I was cruising the galaxy with Yoda and found this planet: Beck hibernates in winter (216) Read this item:
Write about this item in your Blog entry today. I think this is a funny poem. I like it. There have been many poems written about memory loss and old age. It is a part of life. Why not laugh at the funny parts. I get brain fog sometimes and I wouldn't put some of these things past myself sometimes. I am always laughing at my own bloopers. How about the day I brewed a fresh pot of filtered water? I put the filter in and all, but forgot the coffee. 🤔 Or you go in to cook dinner and forget to turn the burner on and wander what is taking your food so long to cook. 😂 Yes, brain fog and memory loss are just lovely things.🤪 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Day 3111: May 24, 2021 Prompt: "I suddenly realised that coincidence is a word we use when we are ignorant of the real causes." - Albert Salvadó I don't agree. We can know the cause and still think something is a coincidence. Sometimes irony happens on it's own. For example, two families decide to have pizza for dinner on the same night and don’t realize it until afterwards. Both mother’s planned it ahead of time for convenience, the cause. It is a coincidence and completely by chance the two families had the same meal. One could have planned frozen dinners, but they didn't. This is my opinion.

Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Proverbs 3:25-26 25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. 26 For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken. What is the desolation of the wicked? What does this mean? Answer: I believe the desolation of the wicked is the destruction or judgement of the wicked. Even when something happens that causes us to be suddenly afraid, we can trust God to protect us when our heart is right with him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PROMPT May 26th Make a list of your top five short term goals and a separate list of your top five long term goals. What steps will you take to achieve them? This prompt made me daydream. Lol I don't know why I have such a struggle setting and reaching goals, but it honestly is not easy for me. I get sidetracked and distracted a lot. I sometimes feel overwhelmed by all the things I feel like I need and want to do. I have a hard time keeping focused. My best friend always teases me when she sees I have gotten sidetracked once again. She says, “1,2,3 squirrel!” lol I will joke back and say something like, “Man! Did you see the big fluffy tail on that one?” Yeah, so I get distracted easily. I have always been a daydreamer. Short-term goals are a bit easier than long-term ones. Let's see if I can name 5 of each. Short: 1. Get my crafts where I can set them up for sell on Facebook/online. 2. Finish the sewing alternations on the pants. 3. Get the kitchen clean already! (I’d rather be here on WDC) 4. Do laundry. 5. Write a story for the Writing for Kids contest for May Plan to accomplish? Make like Nike and just do it! Long: (This is really where I struggle) 1. Get about 2 or 2 weeks ahead in writing, the Bible Studies. Plan: write 1 extra Bible study every other week until this is accomplished. 2. Make money off my crafts rather it is for income or just for Hobby. Plan: Get more aggressive with my selling strategy. List pictures of them online. 3. Write a book rather it is published or not, preferably published. Plan:Write a chapter a month. 4. Read my study Bible, study notes and all. Plan: Read at least 1 chapter a day with the notes associated with it. 5. Figure out the diet plan that works for me and stick to it. Plan: Have a discussion with my doctor and take it from there. Ok, we will see how this works out for me. At least I put forth an effort. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To read is to voyage through time." Carl Sagan Do you agree with this quote? Write about this in your Blog entry today. It is often said that when you read a book, it takes you to another time and place. When I was a teenager and in a miserable situation, reading was my escape from reality. I would read a lot of fiction to escape my reality. It was therapeutic for me. So I have to say, yes, I agree. When we read the stories of the Bible, even though translated into our language, we are reading from over 2,000 years ago. Some of the earliest New Testament manuscripts were written within the 1st and 2nd century after Christ died. The old testament writings date back to before Christ. I find that quite interesting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prompt: I was cruising the galaxy and found this planet Angel (185) Read this item:
Write about frogs today from this poem. Frogs are cold natured. If you have ever held one, I think they feel weird. I like to see them hopping around in nature. Sometimes it is interesting to go out at night and listen to the frogs and the crickets all doing their thing. If it weren't for the pesky mosquitoes, it could be relaxing I think. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Day 3113: May 26, 2021 Prompt: “One must always be careful of books," said Tessa, "and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.” ― Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Angel What do you thing? Has a book ever changed you? Well, the Bible definitely has power to change people. I know there are others to. Yes, I have been changed by a Book or two. The Bible is one that has changed my life for the better. When I read a book about personal boundaries, this was a life-changer too. It taught me how to set healthy boundaries especially in toxic situations. There have been others too that I just can’t think of right off the top of my head at the moment. They will come to me in a day or two when I no longer need them to answer this question. Lol

![]() PROMPT May 23rd Write about nicknames. What nicknames do you have for people in your life? What nicknames do others use to refer to you? Do any of these names have an interesting story for how they came to be? I don't give many nicknames personally, but people have them for me. Marvie is the very first nickname I was ever called by anyone outside of my family. My parents would sometimes call me Thing whenever I was acting goofy. My best friend has called me Marty for years. I also really answer to Marvelous. Marvelous is the real meaning of my first name in Spanish. My first name, Marvilla, is a variation of the Spanish word maravilla, meaning marvelous. My middle name is where I get friend. My middle name is Ruth. Ruth’s biblical meaning is friend or friendship. Therefore, my name on here is the definition of my real name. Marvilla Ruth = Marvelous Friend. I love my name. It is a fun name, and great for conversations. My first name came from my great-grandma on my mom's side. My middle name was my dad’s mother's name. |
Take UP Your Cross Prompt: Proverbs 3:11-12 11 My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: 12 For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. Write about a time you were chastened by the Lord. Answer: Sometimes I think we fail to realize in the moment that we are being chastened by the Lord. I used to feel bitterness against the Lord because I was miserable in life and I never knew the difference of when I was being tried and when I was being disciplined. My parents caused me to see God as an angry vengeful God that expected no less than perfection. This is partially true. He is righteousness. He can not stand anything less than righteousness. Yes, he does get angry. Yes, he will punish those who reject him by separating them from him and casting them into outer darkness. He has set healthy boundaries for himself and us. He is full of love, mercy, and compassion. Anger is a result of something else. It is a response to being disappointed, hurt, or betrayed. God gets angry when we betray, hurt, and disappoint him. He isn’t just angry to be angry and narcissistic. He has set his plan and will before us for our good and given us a choice to either accept or reject it. He has listed a set of consequences for either action of acceptance or rejection. When we accept his will and obey it, there are blessings. When we reject Him and His ways, there are curses. He follows through on the boundaries that he has set, like a parent setting house rules and consequences for their children. After I got into the Word daily, I could look back on my life and see the difference then. We bring so many unnecessary things upon our own selves. This is part of the reason the Bible says we are bound by our own sin. In Haggai it says you should consider your ways. This is very good advice. I have suffered a lot in my life due to the fact that I did not put God first or have my priorities straight. My finances suffered. My relationships suffered. I tried to make things right in my own eyes and ended up in a very bad and abusive relationship for 3 years. I was promiscuous. I tried to force myself into the relationship because I had not kept myself pure and had wanted to settle down. So by committing myself to this relationship, I was trying to make it right even though we never got married. Marriage kept getting put off for one reason or another. I even got pregnant and had a miscarriage. It was a complete disaster. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PROMPT May 22nd Write about the biggest challenge you have faced and how you overcame it. Wow! The biggest challenge huh? I have been thinking about this all day trying to come up with a good answer. Life itself is a challenge. I guess my biggest challenge was just growing up and getting through high school. I did it one day at a time. That is all you really can do. That is how we live our lives, one day at a time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Observations: Verse 19- The Lord delivers who he delights in. Verse 20- The Lord will reward us for the good we do. Verse 21- The psalmist doesn't depart from God's ways. Verse 22- he keeps God's judgement before him and keeps his statutes. Verse 23- he stayed away from sin. Verse 24- God is our judge rather we do good or evil. Application: God is our judge rather we do good or evil. God delights in those who keep his commandments and will deliver them. Prayer: Dear God, Help me stay away from evil. I desire to be good. I love you. I want no other gods. In Jesus’s righteous name, Amen ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Gratitude List 1. Paper 2. Instead of warping to the outer rim or anything too extraordinary, we stayed in familiar territory. We visited Lostwordsmith (476) who has been burning brightly in the WDC galaxy for sometime. . What do you do to deal with summer heat? A I R C O N D I T I O N I N G! 😂 I try to avoid getting burned because I am a really white girl. Lol I try to avoid the extreme heat when possible. If I have to do things outside, I do them in the early morning. Sun screen tends to make me burn worse so I avoid it. I try to stay in the shade and pay attention if I feel my skin getting hot. I will wear baseball caps a lot. I always drink a lot of water. Hydration is key. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Have you ever written something that made you cry while writing it? What triggered that response? Yes, I have. I can be an emotional writer, but it helps me portray those emotions into my writing. An example of this would be when I wrote about the time I was raped as I remembers it. When I am writing fiction, I want to feel what my character is feeling so I can better describe it. It brings more passion into my writing.
