Reuters on the car's info screen
says nothing; the Wi-Fi doesn't
seem to care when there's nothin'
but trees for miles and the
occasional abandoned farmhouse.
Dreams left behind when we
actually had an idea of what
The American Dream was
supposed to represent. The
olden days of attainability,
with strings attached, of course.
The only wars here are the ones
in our heads, of what to do when
confronted with a reality minus
any semblance of time that
there is something of value
worth striving for. A new
purpose. A new luxury de-
void of luxury and quite possibly
devoid of any dreams at all.
The only bending trees do
is to the wind. We didn't know
how lucky we had it back when
we barely had anything at all.

A bee-stung delight;
flowers no longer in bloom.
I can breathe again.

It's been a horrible year;
like two hundred months.
Everything is terrible
and everyone sucks.
Where is the solace,
and where are the speakers?
The world is glowing red,
growing bleaker and sneakier.
We were the chosen ones;
Patient Zero for dismay
as we watch the planet burn
and have to manage the decay.
Fight off your loved ones.
Choose your own family.
Conquer your inhumanity.
Live with the crushing destiny
that it's been a horrible year,
these last two hundred months.
Who do we trust
when life is too much?
