I hope this is entertaining... :)

The prompt was to write a poem named "Two Brown Horses". This is what I came up with:

Two Brown Horses

One head droops,
minds only her own affairs,
willfully blind to others’ cares.

One head ascends,
ears attuned to every sound,
playful hooves pounding the ground.

Two brown horses in the hay
which of them will I be today?

Infinity

Aristotle’s frustrated fingers
claw at his curly beard.
With an exasperated sigh,
he throws an ink-smudged papyrus
at the nearest marble column,
leaving reconciliations of
potential and actual infinity
to future French philosophers.

Bare legs stretch over sun-soaked clover.
Quenched lips rise as fluttered lashes fall.
Lazy waves crash. Shrill giggles fade.
I drift into the sky with a flourish of splayed fingers,
tether to earth’s heavy hand momentarily slack,
free to dance on my billowing breeze,
drenched in the shade of lemonade delight...
*Snap*. I hit line’s end with a startled blink.

Dressed in a dopey smile, she leans forward,
vinyl seat squawking under glistening tattoos,
eyeliner smudges besiege dazed pupils.
Smoldering buds shift inside sticky paper,
wedged between trembling fingers
that reach until chipped nails come to a sudden halt.
Her offering meets plexiglass with a soft hiss.
The cop smiles, then dolefully shakes his head.

Why is it
that government
of/by/for the people
produces vertiginous ascents
of celebrity-sniffing rodents,
stuffing rankness into every crack
of the Corinthian columns
in its hollowed halls?

Everyone can sense it:
we’ve completely lost our way.
Faces of our fellows
now replaced by billowed gray,
waiting for the lantern
that will burn it all away.
Only when we feel it
in our own hand will light spray.
All must raise it high
for us to truly see the day.
