This is it, page one on my journey through Keto and fitness. I tried blogging in the fitness/diet site but it's difficult to link to and they do not have the formating and editing qualities found here. Since I'm just setting this up, and want to share the link with others outside of WdC, this is merely an introduction to my journey and the items I blogged over there.
The military method is a good, low tech way to get started. Omron sells body composition scales for about $60.
Of course, they have a margin of error too, but they are consistent in themselves. Let's say it measures your body fat % too high by 3%. It's always going to be 3% too high but you will see the change.
Mine also gives muscle mass %. That one is nice when the lbs don't seem to budge. Muscle is heavier, so when you gain muscle, you lose weight slower while your fat % is going down.
Always carry the 10 essentials and more water and snacks than you think you need.
If not for yourself then for a lost, hungry, and thirsty hiker. I've shared cliff bars and water bottles with people who went up a whole mountain with nothing because they thought they could buy food at the top.
Waltz Invictus, I'm thinking the same, MD first, and if needed will then get a referral to the chiropractor. I've not been a big fan of chiropractors, but my MD did referral to one in the same clinic for some back issues and the chiropractor did wonders.
Yes, the insurance situation is interesting to say the least. I'll have to post the results, but knowing insurance companies, it may be a while.
👼intuey I know better than to go hiking without bringing some provisions, but up till this hike, we mostly stayed on short trails running parallel to the roads or between camping areas. They are relatively easy and short; but still no excuse not to be prepared, especially since I tend to see a new trail and want to check it out. Maplewood State Park has a lot of trails, some quite remote, and the ground is hilly and difficult so we have ample opportunity to hike and explore.
The ankle has been bothersome for quite some time, I was hoping some hiking may strengthen it and help it improve. But, then again, it may be time to visit my doctor and have it checked out.
Congratulations on adapting and overcoming. I'm glad you said what you said at the end about bringing a backpack filled with things for the unexpected. When you're at a State Park taking trails like that it's always a good idea.
I'm proud of ya'll That's awesome. I really need to start doing that as well. You're inspiring me.
I hope your ankle and back are feeling better.
Keep it up, but don't overdo it! I know the dogs are enjoying it
Thank you all for your comments, and for the laughs.
Waltz Invictus Yes, bread is the most difficult to give up. There are some Keto friendly versions, but it's like smashing cauliflower and calling it potatoes, it isn't the same thing.
Best of luck with that. I used different techniques to lose weight; they were successful, and then, like most people, I ended up gaining it all back. I could never give up bread, though. Bread is food; everything else is a condiment.
