This is a continuation of my blogging here at WdC

This will be a blog for my writing, maybe with (too much) personal thrown in. I am hoping it will be a little more interactive, with me answering questions, helping out and whatnot. If it falls this year (2024), then I may stop the whole blogging thing, but that's all a "wait and see" scenario.

citruspocket - I have a 50 page rule. Within 50 [pages, I give up. But many of these I read to be patriotic or for school or for book clubs.

Never again.

And I hope you enjoyed the Magic Pudding even if the pudding itself was a little scary...

I decided a long time ago that if I'm bored or struggling with a book, then I'll give it up... there are far too many good ones out there to waste time struggling with a bad one! My opinion was formed by reading a few Literary books which mostly seemed to be about boring adults getting divorced... Now I read a lot of sci fi and fantasy, much more fun

As a sidenote, I have Australian relatives so read The Magic Pudding when I was younger! I remember finding the illustrations of the pudding a little bit scary though...

I find myself distracted by the lyrics if music is playing while I write, even if it's just instrumental, my mind starts putting lyrics in. Instead, I have found different background sounds work with my writing and have used thunderstorm sounds work well for action and horror, while soft rain or waterfalls work with more mellow writing.

As someone who has to write in complete silence (minus whatever ambient noises are going on around me at the time...

, this is so interesting! Perhaps I'll try different types of music the next time I'm writing, and see what genre I end up with...

It's fascinating that you write different genres to different music. Music influences my writing as well, but I've never studied to see if there is a correlation. Perhaps evaluating that is an exercise for someday.

Maybe that's my problem, I clear my head before I write and then there's nothing left to write about.

Actually it's the opposite, I find myself distracted by other things I have going on.
